I notice she's your ex-wife.... people are more important than stuff. But, maybe not to you...

Yes she's my Ex. However my wife now wouldn't think of slamming the door. She knows it's important to me. All about respect. Yes people are more important. That's why I laugh when guys are complaining how close someone parked by their precious car 🙄 A wife knows your car is important to you. Therefore after asking her not to slam the door she shouldn't. I open the door often for her. However she doesn't sit and wait for me to open the door so she can get out.

Indeed. I question any guy who asks (I assume nicely) his significant other not to do something that is very simple to avoid because it bothers him and the significant other decides to ignore the request and the guy thinks that's OK. It is definitely a sign of disrespect. Effectively she is saying she doesn't care about you, your feelings and desires, and that's no way to have a relationship.

Saleen, it seems to me like you were right to make your previous wife an ex. If I wanted to be with a woman who disrespected me at the very least I would make sure she had her own address to sleep at night. At least that way I'd a get a good night's sleep!

Wait for her exit, and reach over and slow/cushion the slam. She may or may not get the idea that it's being shut too quickly. Or not. Some women are not seemingly able to comprehend how mechanical stuff works and should be treated/cared for..

The C7's doors close and fasten so easily, there's no reason for the slamming some do.

And that gets you some points to put back for that day you inevitably screw up. And, you know you will.

Now getting out herself is another story. But since day one when we were dating I've used the admonishment my dear old Dad used on me. "I already have a door over here, I don't need another". I caught some chit at first, but to avoid hearing it again she learned quite quickly. And in the event she forgets, she apologizes for the slip-up.

Finger prints on a Chevy? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Dang guys, it's a freaking Chevrolet that's depreciating. Unless it's damaging the door, which the OP didn't mention, so what if she "slams" it? Get over it.

If not, why are you still married?

BTW, notice that I wrote "like," not "love." I know several guys who say that they love their wives but obviously don't like them.

Life is too short to spend it with someone who doesn't show consideration for you.

Good luck.

The first day I bought mine, I showed my wife how to close the door without touching the black paint.
Pull the door jam on the inside of the door. It's almost impossible to slam the door that way.

Now if she could only do the same on my truck!

I thought this was standard practice for car enthusiasts? I open the door and close it so i can insure she doesn't step on the side skirts or slam the door lol

I open and close it for her, as I’ve done all our cars since we dated and married since 1995

Every once in awhile I remind my wife and kids not to slam the car doors. They respect that.

I tell my wife not to touch the paint so she uses her thigh to close the door when she gets out. When she gets in I just say "Hey don't slam it!".That works great!

Now can someone tell me how to get her to load the dishwasher uniformly and not use her foot to slam that door closed??
