So this is my solution, in person everything flows a bit better than it does in the close up photos. I used my 3D printer to print friction fit caps where the pivot point is. Replaced the drivers side catch with a magnetic garage door opener mount (factory option never worked with my doors anyway) and a small added touch to the passenger cover is the c6 flag silhouette when the red light is on.

Based on mikejsmiths idea, I designed filler panels as well. They are pretty basic, but I also threw the files up on printables for anyone else. I did take it one further and removed the angled piece for a flush snap in cap.
