C7 Corvette fueling problem

I've filled up my '19 GS now about 6 times with no issues. I always set the catch on lowest setting and know about how much fuel I've used so I know about when the tank should be full. The fuel used indicator has been spot on.
On a side note I ran the tank fairly low until needle was on 0 and fuel range read low. Fuel range went from reading 31 miles to low and I was starting to worry but it only took 16.4 gallons, got 328 miles out of that tank with some spirited driving.

Had this problem several times with my current 2017 GS for the first month at different pumps and stations, then none since. When it did happen I rotated as described here, 180° on one occasion to get it to fill.

It's threads like this that make me glad I joined the forum years ago.
I was beginning to worry about my 2016 Stingray had a fueling problem.
Now, at least I know that I don't have a vehicle defect.

Not uncommon. Happens with my '18 and I've found it to be TOTALLY pump/nozzle dependent, pure and simple.
At home I know where to refuel and where not to. On the road it's a crap-shoot since I've found no consistent, predictive variables.

I've found this to pretty much be pump dependent - some are better/worse than others. And sometimes happens on our other cars.
A word of caution for those who turn the nozzle 180 degrees: I was doing this on our '15 C7 and it didn't shut off. Gas all over the place, but I stopped it quick because I was cleaning the windshield. Last summer I was filling the GS on a road trip and a guy with a newer Mustang left his nozzle upside down (presumably for the same reason) while he went inside. It didn't shut off and I ran over and stopped it for him, but a lot of gas spilled before I got to it. They shut the station down and called the fire dept. I'm guessing that turning the nozzle 180 degrees could cause some shut off issues on some pumps. You never know............

I make sure to hold it if I do the 180. I also make sure that I close the windows on any car when I'm refueling. I had a bad incident a few years ago where the nozzle jockey sprayed the side of my X5 with diesel, if the windows had been open, it would have been a much bigger problem and a ruined interior. Not to mention that on the Corvette, the filler neck is right by your head.

Yep some folks post and suggest leaving it upside down to fill. You indicate you hold it, which is better but it is warned that it is not designed to shut off when upside down. Realize folks do that but this is a forum post I saved that it could have been a disaster!

I used to turn the nozzle upside down to help with this, but I don't any longer - - one time it didn't shut off and pumped gas all over the side of my C7 (and this was after successfully using the 'upside down method' for probably 20 fill ups). Luckily I was there and shut it off manually, but I got gas on my pants and shoes too.
Not sure how much safer my holding at 90 degrees is BUT it has shut off since I got my C7 in October 2013 and does now with my Grand Sport. I use full flow and it doesn't take long to fill!
That tank in the ground holds thousands of gallons!

Costco just installed new pumps and I've filled up about 3x so far with the nozzle in the regular position without any problems. I've also started setting the nozzle on "medium", so it takes a bit longer, no big deal.
