Default Getting That Top Off

The weather is turning really nice this weekend in my neck of the woods. Reading this past week of a forum member who had difficulty storing the targa top in the trunk of his C7 inspired me to shoot the video below. I enjoy making vids that are entertaining, educational and can help people out for free. Hope you enjoy the vid and happy topless cruising all year long! Stay cool -Ozz (Glen)

Nice job. I'm just about to leave work for the day, and I planned on taking my roof off. I don't think I really have too many problems with mine, but I watched your video anyway just to see if you had any tips to make it easier. I think I might adjust how I initially get my grip on the back edge of the roof.

BTW, I used your fender hash video as a reference when I did mine. Mine are vinyl rather than the factory printed decal, but your video was still helpful. Thanks!

I find it t be very easy. I think the key is just knowing how to position yourself, opening all the doors and hatch, and just taking your time so you don’t scratch anything. Takes me about a minute. You could also just lower the windows instead of opening the doors, but I am 5’7” and like being closer to the roof for leverage. I don’t want to scratch my doors up.

very informative video- well done.

Guess coupe owners will not be driving to the golf course with the top off.

I had my car 5 minutes and the top was off. Thats even when the profile pic I have was taken...right after I bought it.

Its one of my favorite things and I just can't wrap my head around not taking it off constantly. I'm so happy I came into corvette in this gen when they all come off. A fixed roof car would be a big negative to me.

Thank you as always for the great videos. I love that you always have great advice for those of us that are paranoid (maybe a little too paranoid sometimes). I was wondering if you know if there are any issues with storing the targa if you have the privacy fabric installed? Also you mentioned that the gaskets may be sticky. I looked up the gm weather strip lubricant and I was wondering if you have any recommendations for how often to use it? Here is a link to it for reference https://smile.amazon.com/Genuine-Flu...ywords=3634770

Thank you again and keep up the great work

Why not? I take off and store or replace my roof in about 20 seconds. It's no big thing. Except when you forget to latch it after replacing it.

So you throw your clubs in the front passenger seat?

I always press up on the front after releasing latches while I'm still in the car, helps to break the seal.

If it's a clear day leave the top in the garage.

Is anyone noticing wear/damage on the plastic blocks in the hatch that the roof pins snap in to? The C5 had spring loaded levers which were very durable and still work fine on my 125K mi C5.

I'm a bit concerned about only using tension to hold the roof in the hatch. Thinking that one of these days the plastic do-hickey will crack/break allowing the room to move around.

privacy shade must be unhooked to store the roof panel.

Not really. In fact I've never unhooked it to store the roof - you just slide the roof underneath it.

No problem after 10 years with my C6 which had the same arrangement.

I also just slide it under. First couple times I did un hook the privacy shade. Once I got the feel of it, I quit un hooking the privacy shade.

Video is close to how I do it, but I am more comfortable doing it from the passenger side.

Thing is that if you leave the shade in place with the roof panel right up against it, with the wind buffeting around in the back at speed, if there's any dust or dirt on the shade thing, there's a chance it may grind into the paint of the roof panel and scratch it.

I heard that from another forum member....hasn't happened to me.
