Default Dealer Allocation

I just ordered a New Grand Sport Vert from my dealer. I was told That GM isn't really giving allocations anymore. He said as the dealers put the orders in GM is just accepting the allocations as they come in. Is this true? also he said It takes about 10 weeks build time

My uninformed guess is that you are dealing with a small dealer who has few if any allocations left.

Just call one of the forum dealers and double check your dealer's answer.

I do not believe your dealer. GM has operated on the allocation system as long as I can remember. I seriously doubt they just now quit. The ZR1 forum has people trying to find dealers with an allocation to get on built. Most dealers do not have an allocation for the ZR1.

Sounds like you are getting allocation information from a Salesman who wants to keep you off the market until they can get an allocation. Anyone can enter your order in the GM ordering system. Your order will stay in the system until the dealer gets an allocation. When your dealer gets an allocation, your order will go to event status 2000 - Order accepted by GM.

How long should it take to get event status code of 2000 once the order is placed by the Dealer

If he has an allocation, pretty much immediately.

If he doesn't have an allocation: never.

I have found recently that GM is picking up sold orders on Corvettes even if the dealer didn't have an allocation. Every other Tuesday is the day for GM picking up Corvette orders.

As mschuyler stated, almost immediately or maybe it could be a day or two at the longest. If your dealer does not have an allocation, you will never get to status code 2000. Ask your dealer what your Event Status Code is, probably 1100 - Order Placed at Dealership or 1101 - Order Entered into System.

You sure should be able to get your deposit back. I would ask to see order status, if not at 2000 you should be able to get it back.

I think there are a number of responses here from folks who have no idea what they are talking about. Yes, when Corvette sales are running hot, allocations are very competitive and based on turn and earn and previous sales. Right about now, GM just needs orders.

If you are correct he should be at 2000 with in 7 days max of placing his order.

Yup, GM's MO has always been creating demand for a 'hot' vehicle, then use their 'allocation' nonsense to buttress/maintain pricing.
Usually works, apparently not this time.

GM can ill afford passing on sales at this time because pissant dealers w/ ready willing *&* paying customers can't get cars -- due to their own rule(s). You bet that'll be 'fixed'.

For truly in-demand models, yea. Not when pricing's already slashed to the bone, 'new' inventory's plentiful and preowned market saturated.

This is correct, right now GM is placing all sold order for Corvette (except ZR1) regardless of a dealers allocation.

Well I will let you know the outcome today! The dealer said he should know today if order was accepted. (Tuesday) which was the day as previously stated GM accepts orders, and exactly 1 week from when I placed the order!

Well, has your order moved to 2000 and been accepted?
