We all would have a better idea of the situation if only people WITH A LEAKING FUEL SYSTEM post what year car and exactly what was leaking.
Everything else is speculation...

Speculation is that these cars are a complete p. o. s. Never in my life have I seen so many stupid issues with these GM cars. Same old, same old. I guess I thought that if I boycotted them long enough, they would figure it out? Well, a 35 year wait apparently wasn't long enough for GM to straighten s*** out over there.

Just keep reminding yourself....it's just a Chevrolet!

Pretty much every brand out there has issues. It could be worse, GM could totally ignore it. I've had Corvettes for the past 10 years and have driven them over 100K miles with few problems that weren't fixed easily. If I start smelling gas fumes, it goes to the dealer. No big deal. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
My experience was a strong raw fuel smell that got worse when tank was full. Did have gas on garage floor on a hot day. Took 2 trips to the dealer to diagnose the issue. This was in the fall of 2016.
The issue probably presents itself long before you get a fuel leak that would lead to a fire and that is why it is a warranty extension Vs a recall.
Bill
There's been for sure one & maybe more posts about finding a puddle of gas on attached garage floor. I believe another said he came into garage (closed up) & there was a very strong fuel smell. As most of us know, fuel vapors will ignite much easier (spark from throwing lite switch even) than spilled fuel which of course is now putting out vapors too. I guess GM is waiting for the first claim, multi-millions, before a recall. Now that they have admitted to this problem, I can certainly see a rash of claims perhaps. Maybe even some who have had a fire & was unaware of this defect & just filed ins. claim. Who would want to wait till "IT" happens & hope they're not driving when it occurs. Yes, I can still sleep fine, but this seems to be a very unusual way to handle this IMO.HA! HA! As I was saying before rmorin1249 got here to back me up.

No thanks. I like looking at GM's best sports cars being ruined by glossy black rustoleumed Rims and all the same stupid problems with reliability...Just like the stupid fugly black painted rims you have. ROFL No need to boycott!

I hear ya. That's the attitude you have to have to be a GM owner. It's sad, but why let it get to you. You know going in that they are a crap MFG and the product they make is going to fall apart with the dumbest of problems. You just have to man up if you want a vette and the ridiculous "warbles "and gas leaks and transmissions, and rear ends going out after 1000 miles and the paint issues and the yada yada yada yada. Just have to deal with it like you would a 50 year old Resto Mod. Preparation in knowing you are going to open a can of worms by owning a GM product helps with the experience of being ripped off due to the FALL APARTS.

Same here I have not bought a GM product since 1975. We heard the slogan The New GM..but nothing has changed stil the same old GM. My 2011 C6 had loose axel nuts from factory. Tech found a TSB from 2005 regarding the nuts. They did nothing to fix it at the factory since 2005. Leaving it up to a tech to figue it out.Same old GM. So many crazy problems-- windshields cracking..Torque Converters defective. Radio screen blacks out. Arm rest leather denting. Warble noises etc .Just crazy..but there are still people who will defend GM to the end.

What if is leaking and start your car and catches fire. Everything gone and could be the complete house. Then will they make a recall?
If someone is genuinely worried they may have a car suffering from this issue, it might be worth it to intentionally drive around for several days, with something less than a half tank of gas. Being less than half full, it shouldn't leak raw fuel, and the cars evaporative emissions system self testing should occur hopefully setting a check engine light if there is actually a problem.
Just a thought.

Good thought, but you are assuming that some of these people actually are interested in a solution. Some just want to bitch and moan, describing every problem ever to occur as pervasive and common to the model.
If I hated a brand as much as they do, I sure as hell wouldn’t waste my time on their forum, but I suppose some like to make a hobby out of complaining.

Its not a question of complaining. People are spending good money on a vehicle that is not cheap. Everyone expects some problems here and there but for the number of problems we are seeing here its rediculous. And people have a right to voice there opinion. The problems are a DAM shame.
