I recently bought a C7 Z06. I currently own a 2005 C6 that I have for sale on this forum. The Z06 has about 11,000 miles and I am just now finding out that I have a vibration issue that
appears to be related to a known issue.
I have spent the entire weekend looking at different web sites that address this issue. Most of the posts seem to follow along the same lines that people are frustrated that this is an issue with
many C7 cars and that GM could but won't fix it because of cost.
Nobody buys any car and expects there to be no problems but in my opinion this is unacceptable. I haven't had issues with my C6 other than it drain the battery pretty fast when garaged for a length of time. A battery tender cures that.
Can someone explain to me why my expectations are too high and even better why people excuse it?
Yes, I am. It seems that it is less common in the Z06 but It is still there. I actually read a comment from someone on another thread that
said that auto owners get what they deserve. I think GM owes every owner that buys their flagship sports car their best effort and do right by them.
Take it to a good Chevy dealer and have it looked at. Could be a bent wheel, tire or who knows what.
diff could be low on fluid and now be damaged. And on and on
I will end up doing that but that I bought this car and after a couple of weeks of driving it I notice this sensation of driving over speed bumps every few seconds
depending on the drive mode. I'm pretty sure a bent wheel wouldn't do that. I think Occam's Razor applies.
^ This. Finding a 'good Chevy service department' will be your challenge. Research their Vette techs before making an appointment.
I'm a bit ignorant on that but I'm quickly becoming aware that the people on this forum have had enough collective experience that they know the GM dealers that they might trust.
I sure am open to any suggestions in the Oregon/ Washington state areas.
That definitely sounds like the torque converter issue. Have a look at this bulletin. Print it and take it with you when you are ready to take it to a dealer that you deem to be worth while. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...tate-1324.html

Thanks for the link. I have been aware of it for a week or so. How is it possible that any reasonable person would think this would be anything more than a short term answer for the problem?
Today I drove the car back from the coast for a nice weekend with my kids and although I didn't notice it on the way there as long as I used the Sport Mode, on the way back It started the shudder for the last 50-75 miles.
I've read that if I use the manual mode it is better but IMO that is a ridiculous answer for a person buying an automatic to be limited to it just so their car doesn't feel like it is driving over a rumble strip.
Sorry you have to go through this process. But if the do the flush of existing transmission fluid and that doesn't work, they will install a new TC for you. And you are correct that having to run in manual mode is not a fix. I have been fortunate with mine in that I have almost 67,000 miles on it and performs perfectly. So eventually you'll get there. But I understand the inconvenience to you. From what I have researched and heard from Tage is that even though there are three different part numbers for the TC it actually the same exact design and parts in all of them. The different part numbers represent a different production series and not a redesign. But.....the bad ones are just a simple matter of a poor quality part, and or, improper assembly. When you get a new one installed it will be as smooth as silk and you won't experience any delayed engagements when starting up in the morning etc. P
PS. If you see a red 2016 Viper running on I-84, or Hwy 730 that would be my brother who lives right down the highway from you in Irrigon. I used to live in Portland up until 14 months ago.

Thanks for the info. I'll go through the process of trying to get this thing squared away. Other than this problem, I love the car!
BTW...I drive Hwy 730 on the way to work. I'll keep an eye out for him.
On another note. Do you have any kind of recommendation on a shop for the work. Ideally, it would be the Tri-City WA area just because it is close but I would be good with anything in the Portland or Seattle areas if I could be confident they wouldn't screw up my car.

Most of the Corvette people around the Clackamas, Multnomah county area like Suburban Chevrolet in Sandy, although Ron Tonkin Chevrolet in Portland was good for service with my experience.
