What did you expect? Teslas have ludicrous mode and that will pin you back in your seat. I still prefer the sound of an American V8 regardless of whether a Tesla can beat me.
Nothing to worry about. Tesla’s are very cool, and very fast. My next car will probably be a Tesla Model S as a daily driver to replace my Prius. BUT it will not replace my Corvette. The V8 sound and experience is one of the things that make the Corvette what it is. I mean, a 1967 Stingray will get trounced by a new Mustang GT, but which one would you rather drive??
If I recall, Tesla has an aluminum body, similar to jaguar. I saw a lady in the parking lot a week ago in high winds parked next to a Tesla. She opened her door and the wind caught it and yanked it out of her hand. It banged the Tesla door. It left a huge dent on the door. Her door wasn't damaged. I believe that the aluminum bodies are very subject to dents due to their softness. She waited for the owner to let him know.
Made me rethink about aluminum bodies.
I wouldn't worry about it. As soon as he finishes his single run..he will be looking hard for a electric charger somewhere. Ask him if he wants to immediately 'go again' and see what happens.
EXACTLY. A WOT 1/4 mile run down a dragstrip will use 14-20% of the battery charge capacity on all electric vehicles.
Yes, the Tesla is fast, and yes they have good range; but not both at the same time. I plan on owning one some day.
I flew with a buddy the other day. We were like a couple of kids on a playground. "my car this...Tesla that...blah blah". LOL.
bottom line...we turn more heads and get more "can I take a pic of your car" moments. I'll take my V8 growl over the silent drive ANY day of the week. I'm not here to break records, only to smile inwardly and visibly when I lean on the right side pedal.

don't feel bad brother...
The tesla has the visual appeal of a chevy lumina-
Kind of like me running my 1964 Corvette with 300 horsepower and a auto transmission against a 1964 Impala 4 door with the "top dog" 409 with 425 HP and a 4-speed. The Impala will win in a drag race.
Now if my 1964 Corvette had the "top dog" 375 horsepower fuel injected engine with a 4 speed and 4:11 gears....it would be a different drag race.

I believe that the Tesla that is made for the "masses", the Model 3, has a steel body, to save money instead of weight.
You can take comfort in that it will run out of juice after a few laps on a track day! It will also quickly lose power since batteries will be overheated and you cannot run ludicrous mode for more than a short sprint. You refuel and continue with the same performance!

That's no comfort, he got his *** kicked in front of his woman...MORE POWER SCOTTY.
But that's all a Tesla can do. Go fast from a dead stop. Get on a race course or any road with twisties and you can do things in a Z51 that would put any Tesla in the weeds.
I’m unimpressed with the interior in the Model S, but I like the general car otherwise.
I don’t understand why Corvette owners are fixated on drag racing. It’s the most boring and unskilled type of racing there is, and it isn’t a strength for the Corvette.
Was at a harley dealership once with a friend looking at bikes- he was on a honda bike at the time- The female salesman told him he needed a bike with some "*****" The vette has them- tesla is like shrinkage. They may be there but one knows it unless challenged
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
