They seem to have a mind of their own- I set them and two days later those settings have disappeared- sometimes they magically reappear bewildering and has me thinking of locking out the easy exit feature
Based upon my experience in 2 C7s, they mostly work most of the time, but every now and then, they don't function entirely as they should. My settings have never been lost, but sometimes they don't return from the exit position all the way to the correct driving position. That happens about 1 in 10 times. I then just press and hold the button, and it returns to the correct position.
When the memory seats forget, is it Automotive Alzheimer's?
Our C5, both of our C6's, and now our C7; all have had the same intermittent problem.
The newer cars have been better, but this is one system that GM has definitely not perfected.

You Tube has a perfect and working way to program your seats. It is a young good looking lady that takes you through the step by step process. Check it out, it worked fine for me.
Kev, it's not a matter of knowing how to program them correctly, it's that once they're programmed, sometimes they don't work. They sporadically didn't/don't work exactly right approximately 1 out of 10 times on my 2 C7s.
You're talking about "Cute Ginger," and yes I've gone back and reprogrammed them multiple times with the same result described above.

Just try it. You Tube will set you free. The key to me that you are doing it wrong is you said 2 C7s.

I have to stick up for Foosh here.
As mentioned in post #4, each of our four Corvettes (totaling 17 yrs/200k+ miles/3 dealers) has had a similar intermittent problem. Our older ones were like Foosh said, about a 10% error rate. Our 2017 is better, less than 5% error but still random.
As for setting it wrong, we have used techniques given by:
Corvette Forum, several techniques in multiple threads.
Owner Manual.
YouTube babe "Ginger", whose technique is different from our 2017 Owner Manual.
Experienced dealer tech.
Very experienced Corvette salesman.
Corvette friends.
We've also had various parts replaced on the three previous cars and reset by the tech. Whether replacing parts, or reprogramming; in each case, that would fix the problem for a while but then it would return occasionally.

I personally used Ginger's procedure and it works great. 2017 Z51 A8. I also am sticking up for Foosh, just giving what I experienced. I too had problems with iratic daily different positions, until I used Ginger's process on You Tube. 2nd C7 worked great in both.
I have had no problems in my 2014 or now my Grand Sport! Maybe lucky!
Unlike that video, I change and record new seat positions while driving by hitting the buttons sequentially, i.e. move the seat or seat back position, press SET then my #1 button with the same hand! Must be done within ~1 second. It beeps.
Have to be sure you have the right key FOB. I only have one in use and it has a red silicone cover. Also the exit position must not be so far back that it can hit the limit switch if you are pressing on the seat back.
I've watched the Ginger video and used her "alternate" procedure many times . . . makes no difference. It's been a minor issue on my cars. It mostly works, but every so often it stops short of the memorized driving position, and I have to hit the button to get it to go the rest of the way.
Clearly, it's programmed properly, or it would NOT work properly the other 90% of the time . . . duh.

I did the "Ginger fix" a while ago. I have not had a single failure in having the seat move forward EXCEPT when I have forgotten to set the eBrake when I parked. This appears to be intentional as I can reproduce it with 100% accuracy. If I don't se the eBrake when I turn off the car, when I turn on the car it will not move forward to position #1. This is easily verifiable too in that if you wait until all of the start up flashy lights and the like on the center console, if you had set the eBrake you'd see the Parking brake engaged light up on the screen. And if you neglected to set the eBrake when you turned the car off you will not see the Parking brake engaged indicator on the main screen. This happens to me with 100% reproducibilty.
I'm also in the same situation as FOOSH...... and YES, I've reprogrammed them many times. I also get about 1 out of 10 times when it will NOT remember and I have to hold the button.
I'm also on my 2nd C7 and both have had the same memory issue.
I've also watched the "Cute Ginger" video to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
It works most of the time, and without reason, just may not work other times.
Small irritation at this point. Not worth going to the dealership to try and hunt it down, and besides, it would likely work just fine for them.
I don't follow that procedure at all! As I stated, I change it, including while driving, by setting the seat, steering wheel where I want, press the SET button then within ~1 second pressing my #1 button. It beeps and comes to that setting the next time I start.
PS: I wonder if pressing the buttons simultaneous as shown in the video could be an issue as one will always make contact before the other. This is what it states in my 2017 Owner's Manual: Storing Memory Positions
To store positions to the 1 and 2 buttons:
1. Place the ignition in ON/RUN/START or ACC/ACCESSORY.
2. Adjust the driver seat, outside mirrors, and the power tilt and telescoping steering column to the desired driving positions.
3. Press and release SET. A beep will sound.
4. Immediately press and hold 1 until two beeps sound.
5. Repeat for 2
Note: It says press SET immediately after NOT simultaneously. FWIW

I've tried it all different ways, including the simultaneous push; the memory system works most of the time but not quite always, and it doesn't matter which method I used to set it.

Do you have an M7? Are you sure that you had previously set the eBrake when you parked it? See my previous post.
