Default Creaking Noises

Anyone else have creaking noises from their roof? The latch above my head is constantly creaking and driving me crazy. Sometimes I drive with my side unlatched to stop the creaking.

Any fixes for this?

I had the same problem with my 2015 and took it to the dealer and they replaced the latches and pins and the creaking got much better. This seems to be a common problem with early C-7's.

There are a million posts on this. My new Stingray creaks as well despite everyone saying the problem was fixed after 2015. It's a plastic car, we'll have to get used to it. I don't believe anyone who says their car doesn't creak. I'm 0 for 2 and everyone I've been in creaks. I hope the C8 is an actual coupe and not some pretend to be coupe convertible. If I wanted the damn top off I'd buy a convertible.

Try some heat shrink on the pins it stopped the creaking on my C6 lasts several months then needs to be redone. My 15's top does a little creaking not enough to warrant any fixes

There are many different variations of the squeaking / creaking issues. Front targa latches, rear of the targa, and other places. If it helps I had the rear of the targa variation. Here was this fix:

It use to happen consistently at ~2500 rpms. I've heard no squeaking since the fix was applied.

My fix for this problem was to pull the top and lube the pins (front and back) with silicon dielectric grease and while I was at it, I also put a thin coat of grease on all of the rubber moldings and a thin coat on the locking surfaces of the cams. I stress THIN coating and application on a warm or hot day since the silicon does not cover easily when it is cold. I also added silicon into the pin holes. And while I was at it, I also did all of the rubber molding around the doors, hatch and hood. The result was a completely quiet car. No creaks, squeeks, or groans!! Good Luck.

Exactly what Cirrus8 said. I just went through this and when I was finished my top was quite. Easy and cheap fix.
