Maybe after GM designed the system, there was an empty space there so some engineers thought of turning it into some big innovation and put in a pop up screen. Another gimmick, but that’s the only reason I got my C7. I had to have that feature even though I’ve opened it twice in 4 years.

Sunglasses, reading glasses, and EZPass only. The EZPass toll transponder signal is read from inside the compartment, and it avoids mounting an ugly box on the windshield . . . brilliant! It's a great place for those other essentials too.

I have the head unit for my UHF radio in there. I run it on the Chanel 7 SMS frequency for the Corvette Club car cruises. Now I never worry about a dead handheld radio battery during a long cruise.

It's also available from Custom Corvette Accessories, a forum vendor.

I think post #9 nailed it...

GM maximized what little storage area that was available in the C7. It is merely a storage space, and not a secret hidden compartment to dupe car thieves.

Has anyone made a cover of this or anything like that? just asking. maybe it is just the James bond in me that wants it hidden.
I plan on covering the button with a decal that says “Passenger Eject” on it or “Smoke Screen/Oil Slick. Whichever I can get to fit with my label maker that is.

An OEM-looking label that says, "Vehicle Immobilizer" would be a good choice.
