Default Remote Start

When I remote start the AC does not come on until I enter the car and press the start button. Is this normal or a setting problem? I don't see the use of remote start if I can't cool down the vehicle before hand.

Yes it should unless you shut off the system before you shut off the engine.

From the owners manual.

“The climate control system will use the previous settings during a remote start. The rear window defogger may come on during remote start based on cold ambient conditions.”

Mine comes on automatically when I use the remote start. I usually have a habit of turning the AC off before shutting the car off and have wondered why it comes on when using the remote start.

Yes, it is on auto. I did see the mention in the owners manual but just wanted to make sure something else wasn't going on or if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, what the fix was. I can live with it for now but will have dealer address it during the next oil change. Thanks for the positive comments and insights.

My '15 coupe always turns the AC on with a remote start if the car is hot inside. Always has. I've read the OM and it says the HVAC will function at the last setting used before shut down but mine has a mind of its own. I never use the HVAC in auto mode. Even if the AC portion is off, upon remote start the AC is blowing hard and the radiator fan is blowing at hurricane force. Once I complete the start with a brake and button the HVAC resumes operation at the last setting used. I like the way it works and prefer it to the way its supposed to work.

I'm not sure what happens if the car is cold in the winter. I think I'd have noticed if the AC and radiator fan were blowing hard.
