Default ZOOM NAV setting?

Is there a way to set the aerial distance for the NAV? I looked in the manual and I didn't see anything about setting this. Every time I enter an address and start navigating, the view is very zoomed in.. I prefer to be zoomed out to about 600 ft above view... Just to clarify, Im not talking about the auto-zoom feature - that works fine. Im talking about the consistent aerial view setting while navigating...

Anyway to set this permanently to always be at 600 ft?

This is all I found in the manual:

I don't like the auto zoom and turned it off.
IIRC, when auto zoon was still on, I could manually zoom but it would go back to auto fairly soon.

On our 2017, I can zoom in-out by rotating the center **** around the Menu button, but I'm not sure if that works in earlier years.

Now I need a way to keep the map scale visible for more than 5 seconds.

Touch the screen and zoom to desired level. It should stay there.

It does stay there during THAT navigation...but tomorrow if I go to use NAV, I have to zoom out to 600 ft again... Im trying to get it to default to 600 ft all the time.

Not sure which of us that reply was for, but it doesn't work for me (2017 2LT Factory Nav).
No matter what method I use to zoom in or out, the new scale becomes visible for exactly 5 seconds and then disappears. Idiotic.
