I am the owner of a 2014 Stingray Coupe with 3LT trim levels and no after market modifications. The car was the 24,307th car built in 2014. And this will be a long post, sorry.
After using the Navigation program that I ordered with the car for Four years I decided an update to the program would be worth the cost. So, I ordered one and waited 2 weeks for it to arrive and then waited till a week day to install the program. Now the troubles start!
The printed instructions that come with the Flash Drive that contains the updated program states that I should insert the Flash Drive into ANY USB PORT in the center console or in the USB Port behind the Infotainment screen.. I chose to use the top Port in the Console. Once inserted the program began to up-load, BUT when about 35% complete the process came to a total halt... and I saw the following message: "Invalid Update File" - "Please Insert device containing Map file to continue the update"
Well, since I never removed it I was confused but decided what the heck, so I removed the Flash Drive and reinserted into the same top USB port!!!...
SORRY, no cigar! Nothing happened, nothing worked and I could not access my original Navigation program.
I called GM Navigation, told them of issue, was told they could not help and I was then directed to the Technical Dept. of HERE, GM's navigation company.
Result of all this talking was the instruction that I should return the defective Flash Drive and once received a new replacement would be sent.
THRE weeks later a new Flash Drive arrives and I repeated the installation process AS I HAD THE FIRST TIME...
Guess what, SAME RESULT!!! Nothing happened, nothing worked and I could not access my original Navigation program!!
I am not a happy camper! Thinking about it I decided to do something different, so I inserted the Flash Drive into the USB Port that sits behind the Infotainment screen!! EUREKA > THE INSTALL RESUMED, COMPLETED, AND TODAY I USED THE PROGRAM WITHOUT ISSUE!!
SO, IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PURCHASING AN UPDATED NAVIGATION PROGRAM AND IF YOU OWN A 2014 STINGRAY (BASED SOLEY ON MY EXPERIANCE) YOU SHOULD USE THE USB PORT BEHIND THE SCREEN!
I hope this note helps someone avoid long delays and frustration...
Could you please share a link where you ordered the new update? I have a 2014 as well... Just a side note, I think the NAV system is pretty crappy. Takes forever to load, takes forever to type in the address, the search feature is slow and the zoom cant be set to any other distance (by default) except really close up.
Very odd. I've done the Nav update twice in my 2014, and each time used the USB port in the console. No problems.
Ditto. USB in the console worked fine for my Nav updates.
OP? Did you lose the power during the update? Ignition must be on. I usually plan a time when I know I'll get 45 minutes of driving time to do the update.

Be aware that
* They sometimes run sales on the updates for like $20 off or some such thing.
* Unlike the C6, the C7 nav updates are keyed to your specific car's VIN, and thus cannot be "shared" or sold to another C7 owner. You have to provide your VIN when you order.

Updated my 2014 car with the latest 2018 Nav and experienced no problems at all -- I did it on my 75 mile one-way commute to work, and used the USB port in the compartment behind the display.

My 2017 Navigation loads pretty fast. I do not type in an address, I just use the voice command feature to enter my destinations...you can also enter destinations while the car is in motion.
... The car was the 24,307th car built in 2014. ...
I'm guessing that you make that statement based on the last 5 digits of the VIN. If so, it was NOT the 24,307th 2014 built. 2014 had 2 "Premier Editions" (500 Coupes and 550 Convertibles) that repeated the last 5 digits (they had a unique digit before the last 5). So, the last 5 does not tell you what your overall build sequence was.
On your Nav update, glad you were able to get it to work and thanks for the heads-up to others.
