Default Engine Cover

Do the engine covers serve any purpose? Seems like just added stuff that doesn't need to be there and will hold some heat in. I was thinking of removing mine.

Of course remove them, what do GM engineers and designers know.

The cover does cleanup the look of the engine bay, but if you’re old school, take it off and show the world what an engine looks like.

That's a great point. The covers probably help to silence a lot of the engine noise you don't want to hear so you
can hear the engine noise you do want to hear.

So you don't have a clue about the covers. GM engineers and designers mess things up all the time. Remember the Aztek?

Hey man, take them off if you want, your car. However if you come here asking for opinions, that's what you are going to get. Do they serve a purpose, YES. They reduce
noise and make the engine compartment look a hell of a lot better. And, by the way, I'm pretty sure the Corvette design team didn't have anything to do with Aztek.

Why don't you take a photo after you remove your engine covers and post it here and we can see what looks better.

Missing engine covers could very well cost you something when you go to sell or trade in your C7 and they are not there.

i read that statement from a vw engineer many many years ago. he was referring to removing the thermostat from the air cooled engine. jist of the story is automotive designers do not put parts in cars that have no function. everything is there for a reason
