Default Console lid

just wondering if anyone has had to replace the Console lid on the C7, mine is all stretched and looks like crap, i think it is caused by my one handed driving and my elbow on the console. Same with the door arm rest, needs to be replaced as there is a dent in the drivers arm rest. I need to more diligent and not do this i think. The local dealer is replacing both pieces, and they aren t cheap.

If your car is still under warranty it should be covered. Mine was and I am not an elbow digger. Good Luck.

Newer production, improved lids "are supposed to" hold up better.

Mine was fine for 2.5 years. Then......I started using sunscreen on the back part of my arm and elbows. After a week this is what it looked like! Yikes.

On my third one in 16 months. We'll see how well this one lasts.

Wow...you guys are brutal on those pads! Or did GM improve the padding on later models?

My MY16 is perfect and I have bone(y) elbows. I think many were just flawed. Lots of threads with folks getting a replacement under warranty.

I just got a black face towel at Walmart, folded it and keep it on the console... Provides padding, absorbs moisture from arm, and not damage to lid..
I know, tacky, tacky, tacky...

Not an unusual problem - I've seen several C7s around here that have the same issues with the console lid.

I think a lot has to do with the heat , live down south , and also have a clear top , it got so hot in my car I could not hold on to the wheel , the leather on the console cover would just wrinkle up like crazy , then at night , in my garage it would cool down and the console cover would look like nothing was wrong with it . After a few months it did not look so good after cooling down which I can only attribute to stretching while it was hot

Dealer replaced it under a good will warranty ( and even if they did not I was prepared to buy a new one ) , and I bought the inside targa top sun shade that is held on by vacuum cups , My interior is 100% cooler , my air conditioner works so much better and I am confident that I wont have any problems with my new console cover

That looks like the one I just sold on EBAY for 40.00.
There are forum members who have like new ones available. I posted in For Sale section for one and several guys offered.
100.00 for a like new one was worth it.

The stretched one makes a good carcass for a customer lid cover.

Yea, same here. I kinda wish that I could get the plastic console cover with the logo. Never had problems with it.
