Too much car for me?

Your being female has ZERO to to with this.
Are you a good driver? Do you know how to test the car gingerly? That's what someone w/o testosterone does. the comments sound like a guy who has only had a rice burner and is chest thumping to me.
You have experience with high HP cars from the sounds of it, so I would not worry, and I envy you your new car!

It seems like you are implying that you being a female is the reason they are saying this to you?
What kind of cars have you owned and have experience driving? Maybe that is what they based that statement on rather than being sexist? Maybe not? This is all hypothetical and I’m curious, not defending anyone.
Anyhow though, regardless male or female, sex plays no role in the ability to handle a Grandsport. It’s a matter of respecting the car and getting experience driving it on the track to know how it really handles.
Who cares what anyone says says you can’t do. If you want one and have the means, buy one and enjoy it. Make sure to drive past the haters and wave.
I’m not sure if it was a sexist comment or because my z51 had a lot of problems and they were insinuating I didn’t know how to drive it or what.
But, there is absolutely no way in any shape or form I did the damage to the other car and it’s very unfair that if that’s the case for the comment that I’m being blamed for it.
I have always owned some sort of sports car in my driving life...So it’s not like this will be the first time I’ve ever been in one.
From their standpoint, they are telling me it is soooo much different than the Z51 I had and I will hate how it drives.
I just want to know..what IS it that is so much different?
I have read the threads on the debates on the personal and performance differences, but I could care less how much faster this is than that. I’m mean how many of you that drive the car as your daily driver go over 100? I wanted it because I loved the look of the GS over the z51.

My wife has driven our C6, C7, and our current GS, so why wouldn’t you be able to drive one?

I have a friend that has a Z06 and I’ve never heard her complain of it being hard to handle.

Anybody that tells you that is an idiot, plain and simple. Get the Grand Sport, whether it be an automatic or a manual, do the Spring Mountain Corvette Owner's School and learn how to use all the vast capabilities the car has to offer. Then go to a local autocross or track day, blow their doors off and tell them to STFU. Ignore the idiots and enjoy the car!

It's highly doubtful an inexperienced C7 driver could handle any new one. Regardless. Most Corvette owners can't handle their C7 WITH Traction Control on! Lol!
Although there's any number of keyboard racers here full of invisible bravado, that drone on endlessly about all their high speed street racing escapades - virtually none of them are competitive OR competent, experienced track racers. Without intensive training with the car, I'm not sure if you can "handle" a high-powered, 460 hp machine, using ALL the car's power. 😊

Get the car, spend the extra thousand dollars and air fare. Take the two day Corvette Owners School at Spring Mountain. I guarantee you’ll know more about your car and you driving it than 99% of drivers already on the road. Your GS will never be too much car for you.

Whoever told you this doesn’t know much about cars. I would not listen to any of their advice on this particular subject.

The Corvette is one of a handful of cars that offer a "learn the potential of this car" drivers program, heavily discounted, to new Corvette owners. You will get the literature and discount offer with the papers you receive for the new car. Even if you buy used, you are welcome to attend the driving school. After the school you will be familiar (and comfortable) with driving the car at probably 9/10th of its capability. The other tenth, if you are interested, you get from going to HPDE (high performance driving education) days at local racetracks in your area.
The Corvette drives just fine, and safely, without going to the school. And you never have to set foot on racetrack to enjoy the Corvette. But the education available makes the difference between driving the corvette and making use of it's full potential.

And your post did?
Perhaps you missed the intent of what I posted or maybe I worded it poorly, so I’ll spell it out here:
According to the OP, some people think that a GS is too much for female drivers. Danica Patrick is a proven race car driver very capable of handling anything on wheels. So my suggestion was to have the OP’s naysayers understand that females are able sports car drivers too.
Hope that helps.

Probably the greatest American female driver EVER, and quite possible in the world.

She drove the wheels off high performance cars for decades.

No, the grand sport is not to much car, especially not if you have been driving corvettes. The grand sport has wider tires front and rear than the Stingray or the Z51 Stingray, but the same engine. So it would actually be harder for it to get away from you.
Driven with a little common sense it is no issue for any one to drive, especially not if they are responsible.
The first High performance car my wife ever Drove was my 14 Stingray, Z51, M7. She never had an issue with it. She also had a blast at the Ron Fellows Corvette school.

Did someone actually try to mansplain something to you? Tell them to pack sand and then wave a tampon at them. They will freak out and run away... Then go drive your new car... THe C7 is completely civilized. If you have any kind of control of your right foot, you can drive it like a an econobox if you want too.

this obviously does not apply to you, but if your are skiddish or unsure of your abilities, just put you car in weather mode. after a few miles you will have gained confidence , and switched to sport. SERIOUSLY, I wish I had done this. I was 5k into it before I used weather mode.

Driving a GS or a Z06, piloting an airliner or a jet fighter , or driving a high performance boat etc has nothing to do with being a guy or a gal..........I think you came into contact with someone who has their head up their keister which also is not a guy or gal thing !

People are only jealous! The car is as smooth as silk to drive in touring mode if you don’t floor it. And yes it will go fast if you like also but you will get used to it quickly! Go ahead you won’t regret it!
