Default Engine temperature

My 2014 runs at 220 on an 80 degree day. Is that too high?

Is that the temp on the analog gauge? Check the temp on the digital gauge in Tour Mode.

No, it's not too high. Pretty typical, actually.

Only if you're stuck in traffic a while. On the highway mine stays at between 190-194F even when it's 95 degrees out. I rarely see it go above 200 unless I'm stopped in slow moving traffic for a long time or do a bunch of full throttle runs in a row.

I think you will find that people regularly report temperatures above 200, as this thread shows: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ter-temps.html IMO 220 is nothing to worry about.

I wonder if they went with a lower temperature thermostat on the newer cars and that's why my 2018 is seeing lower temps than others are reporting?

Mine's never seen that temp. Far less. Even when the high today was 111° in Dallas, Texas. Above captioned as the day was cooling off @ 106° near nightfall.

My '14 runs at 220 all year round, except when it is above 90, and I'm running high rpms with the AC on ; then it will run higher.

I say it's normal behavior, and the minute I turn the AC off, goes back down to 220.

From what I understand, on the '14, those temps come from two different sensors (which is why they never align, with the digital output being ~10 degrees cooler).

That may not be normal.

I'd have it run through a Chevy. dealer's diagnostic equipment to be sure it agrees with your assessment.
