Default First Corvette

I am about to begin the search for my first Corvette. With just a bit of knowledge about Corvettes, are there any models or years that I should avoid. Thank You.

Outside of some of the usual negative parroting done by some around here, without an actual personal working knowledge & experience of what to avoid? No.

Go have a blast shopping for what you want in a Corvette!

Best bang for the buck: later model C6 (2008-2013), new C7 Stingray (they're GIVING them away).

Really depends on your budget. Also what you want the car for, traveling? Commuting, or tracking it?

All the C7's are nice.

You may want to post the answers to these questions to have the folks here provide you with more direction:

1) Are you looking for a specific year or model of Corvette?
84-96 are C4's
97-04 are C5's
05-13 are C6's
14-Present are C7's

2) Are you buying this as your "Sunday Toy", a Show Car, a Track/Race Car, a Daily Driver?

3) Do you know what options you want?
Stick vs Auto
300HP, 350HP, 400HP, 460HP, 650HP
ZR1, Z06, Z51, Grand Sport, Base model - do you care?
Coupe vs Convertible

4) Ballpark budget you want to stay within?

If you share your answers to these questions, Im sure you will get all the information you are looking for...

Welcome to Corvette Forums. You're off to a good start in coming here to seek knowledge prior to purchase. I assume since your posting in the C7 forum you are interested in a later model (2014-2019)?
All years are fairly similar with coup and convertibles ranging from 455hp base Stingray or Z51 models with their narrow body then moving up to the Grandsport (460hp), Z06 (650hp) and ultra HP ZR1 which
are wide-bodies.
Typically pricing starts from upper thirties (used 2014), and to new MSRP of approx $60,000 (Stingray), $75.000 (GS), $90,000 (Z06) and $160,000 (ZR1) .
Typical new car discounts from forum sponsor dealers run from about 10% off MSRP for 2019's to as much as 25% off for new leftover ('16>'18) cars which are fairly plentiful around the country.
Each model comes in (3) trim/feature levels; 1LT (nicely equiped), 2LT ($4500, adds items such as HUD, front camera etc), 3LT ($9700, NAV, PDR, upgrade leather, over the top, IMO).

Check here for models/feature/colors/equipment etc
