Any of you guys get your stuff installed??
Today i spent about a hour or so trying out a bunch of different sub enclosure's at a local indie car stereo shop, I have bought from them since the 80s ( yup iam old ) and prefer to support local guys when i can.
Anyway.... the short story is i had the best luck with ported enclosure's sounding the best vs non ported and non ported down firing having to many "holes " in mid bass 80hz -140hz range . if i only listened to hip hop the easy winner would have been a non ported 2x12 kicker box i tried set to the very back
I ended up going with the smallest ( and cheapest it was on clearance for $100 ) box that i tried... its a Memphis ported 8' positioned behind the drivers seat. I dont think its designed to be "down firing " but when i flip it over there is just enough leading lip to create clearance for it to work. Low frequencies are non directional so it sounds the same behind the passenger seat , in the middle or behind the drivers seat. just not in the back!
Again... when positioning these in the back of our car's will result in a way out of wack bass frequency spikes is the easiest way to explain it. That being said try it for your self as this may sound fine to you.
Thats my report.

Shop has not had time to do mine yet - part of the problem is it spent 5 days at dealership getting head unit replaced - told them from day one but they wanted to try software update then replace HMI unit and finally they had to cave and put a new head unit into it
Anyway your not impressed with your update - did you use a Line Converter and an amp this would be a must or you are wasting your time really

I am going to build a custom one with four 8"s plus an amp rack. I've been building audio systems in vehicles since the mid 80s and got 3rd place in an IASCA event in West Palm Beach back in the day.
There is a ton of room in the hatch and no spare tire to leave access for. Just imagine the trunk partitions several vendors sell but with the remaining space behind the seats (forward part of hatch) filled with speakers and amps. Some quick measurements indicate a wide, thin box that is 6" deep x 10" high x 42" wide could easily be fabricated to fill this area. It would occupy the space between the factory tie downs and the small lip behind the seats. The box would be as high as the seam between the plastic wheel well covers and the upper interior trim that surrounds the rear quarter windows. Such a box contains 1.45 cu ft of air space, which is .725 cu ft of air space for two subs or .363 cu ft per if you went with four woofers. If you build the box taller or deeper with angled face you could get some 10" subs back there if desired I bet.
While pricey something like this is ready made and would fit perfectly: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13628L...08LG-W3v3.html seems many folks use them under the rear bench seat of full size crew cab pickups. You could simply attach an amp to the front, or JL Audio offers the same model with a built in 500 watt amp that you could wire up very quickly to the factory system and have instant BOOM. Kicker has a similar non-amplifed model as well for less money: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206TRT...43TCWRT84.html
With some crafty DYI parts you could attach either box to the factory tie downs. Being tall and thin such a box would likely want to tip over under hard braking or acceleration... which of course happens often in a 'Vette. So keep safety in mind with any of sub enclosure in the hatch because your talking about a heavy item sitting right behind your head just make sure its secured properly.
