Default What sub enclosure do you use?

I just installed a small amp - lc2i - and 8" bazooka bass tube...i have used these exact parts in many previous cars ( and tucks ) because its small & compact and most of all it sounds good to me and offers enough lows to fill the spectrum without letting the neighbor's know.... It has always made a huge difference.

Like the tile says...what sub enclosure did you go with? custom built? or off the shelf?

I use the one that came with the car from the factory, 3LT interior and sound system.

I agree. No need to make the sound system louder as the engine will drown it out when at full song. No sound system can compete with it.

Well Bill...maybe you should stay away from the keyboard next time you decide to say something stupid for the world to see. Way to go pal.... why did you even click on this thread since you clearly have ZERO knowledge on car audio or had any intention to offer anything of interest.

Yes iam always driving WOT.... in "full song" wtf Bill.

Two Audiobahn 10" boxes - only 5.75" high is speakers are not great replace them at some point - installer was not impressed with speaker choice - well see get them Monday - in a small car should be plenty of bang for the buck -

Want one on each side - cant stand one rear quarter speaker had JL in my C6 not impressed I could always here bass on one side - also LC2I & Audiocontrol 300watt amp - very small and fit behind back panel

Cars going to dealership to fix head unit Tuesday - they wont order a new head unit until they figure out what it is first - sub upgrade will be next week fixed radio or not

These get amazing reviews - couldn't pass up for the price - gets better reviews than the heavy hitters

cool... hope those work out, let us know once installed, Iam considering other enclosures than what iam currently using... hence the thread title

BTW install is very easy in these cars... no long wire runs or lots of panel removal its all right in the back.

I just bought the Rockford-Fosgate P300 10" rig. I used to have a Pioneer 10" pre-enclosed shallow box with an RF amp...similar power and freq range. But the lack fo space for the amp...I went with the "all in one" deal with the P300.

I believe I'll be able to stow the top with not issues. I'll have pics. Getting it done tomorrow at 1130.

UGH...Dammit. I booked online last night with BestBuy to install. For whatever reason, it populated AUGUST 29th...not July. I called to rebook and there are ZERO openings for TWO WEEKS. Really?! ugh. Theres gotta be 15-20 stores in the ATL area...I'd drive 45 minutes but they said theres nothing anywhere.

Soooooo...dead in the water for now...and bummed...and annoyed. LOL

Thats no good...you should try the install yourself
There is a great thread with all the info you need. any car audio shop will have a wiring kit even best buy.
I am no electrical engineer but years ago i got sick of spending hundreds $$ on very simple installs, and more than half the time the install kid would scratch something or goof it up one way or another.... I figured out the basics and now i just do it myself.

I can help you if you run into a snag.

I suppose I could. I'm not an idiot...except on my other thread where I backed into a pickup. LOL.

I have this plan at BB tho and my install is free...up to a certain $$ amount...and they say about 4 hours to do this. But this is just like installing one amp..plus the separate volume ****. I guess I could do some research and maybe schedule a project for myself this week. It's gonna rain in a couple days...perfect timing to be in the garage with a beer.

I think I may try installing. poked through a few threads after a search. Looks like I'd only have to pull up the rear carpet. EVERYTHING is back there.

My only challenge will be running the remote volume to somewhere up front

so...fellas, any tools I should get that an average dude may not have for this? ..... and dos/don'ts, gotchas, etc.

thanks.

Do you have a "LOC" (line output converter)?
All you really need is a decent wire crimper

I assume your sub/amp came with a harness

I don't have an LOC. And it did come with some wiring...not sure if it's ALL the wiring I'll need. I got busy and didn't get a chance to thumb through the manual to sort out "whats in the box" regarding the wiring items in there.

I'll ask my installer today if you need loc with a powered sub

Installer said you do need a LOC if using the Bose head - I would have an installer do it

I believe your enclosure with the built-in amp comes with a high-level input as a part of the wiring harness . So technically no you don’t need a LOC it can be used both ways with or without .
personally I would wire using a loc Much cleaner signal

Guys, thank you for all the intel. With the slight difference of opinions and uncertainty, I'll just have to wait to have the BB guys do it. Plus, since I've never done it before. LOL. Might as well got with a known quantity.

I will report back with how it sounds and pics...and with the top stowed.
