Default Oops...

While driving through a construction zone the other day, the lane was so tight I inadvertently hit one of those really large yellow speed bumps with my left front tire. The ones that are about as big as a grapefruit. Needless to say, I wasn't happy about it but I kept monitoring the tire pressure and it seemed fine until my house painter was looking at the car he said "is there something wrong with your tire?"....Looks like I might have bent the wheel....ugh....anyone know the cost of a GS Painted Black wheel?

Don't know about the wheel, but it looks like you damaged the tire structure. That sidewall isn't right.

The wheel might not be damaged - if it's bent, it should be an easy fix for a wheel-straightening specialist for about $80-$100. No need to "replace" the wheel unless it's cracked.

The tire, however, is toast. It needs to replaced.

You don't think the tire is simply conforming to the shape of the bend in the wheel? I'll take it to the dealer first to diagnose it and see what a replacement tire and/or wheel costs. I'm not interested in repairing the wheel. It will never be right in my mind.

$800 for one wheel seems high. Especially considering the 4 wheel option when purchased was only $495....we shall see...

Looking around $400 (estimate) at House of wheels - not replica either spot on - not used - brand new wheels - I was impressed - be careful buying used you cant tell they are bent until you take to tire shop hence my purchase at House of wheels after buying a used wheel learned my lesson the hard way - good luck

looks more like the tire is messed up than the wheel, but get both checked. If you do need a wheel, check with one of the forum wheel vendors for an OEM replacement.

I was thinking the same thing my friend. You may have just bruised the side wall (hopefully). Good luck, I hope your wheels is OK.

From the picture you posted, I think the tire is damaged.

Well we'll see when I take it to the dealer. A tire is about $400 and the OEM wheel is $425 from House off Wheels. I just hope it's not both....ugh....

I hope I can get to the dealer this week as I am in the process of moving into my new house and it's going to be a hectic week for sure...
