With National General they do not track driving style, only mileage. The quote went from $6K a year to $3K by signing up for the low mileage discount. BTW, Michigan as a state has very high insurance rates.
Thanks.
That probably won't help us. Both of our Toyotas are on low mileage discounts, less than 4k per year each. But we put 12-15k on the 'vette each year.
Ouch, well that explains it. I’m from New Jersey and should know this, but the last 20 yeas have been in Georgia and Florida so I’ve unconsciously relieved myself of any memory’s of anything less than sunny hot weather 75% of the year
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on you new ZR -- nice car!! Post some pictures when you can. On a side note, seeing as how you are new here, not sure if you know they have a sub-forum on here titled ZR1. You might want to take a look there. I'm sure you will find lots of good ZR1 information from some guys that know their stuff.
Back to the OP subject, INSURANCE is outrageous here in Michigan!! Supposedly the highest rates in the country. My 15 base at 10,000 miles a year no tickets yad-yada is 22 hundred a year. With three other cars etc. for a multiple car discount -- BS!! What a rip-off

Thanks! I did post a picture. We are getting off topic, but I understand that there is a lawsuit just filed by the CIty of Detroit against the State of Michigan for our laws on no fault insurance and medical expenses. Did you know that the insurance industry is the #1 political donations contributor in the State?
I only use OnStar when on road trips mainly for the "stolen car" locate system they have. However, they are very helpful when you need them. On a road trip in my C6 I had the dreaded grinding in the rear diff., and of course I was in the middle of nowhere at the time. The Rep. found my location, and downloaded direction to the nearest GM dealer PDQ. And, she spoke perfect English. OnStar is also very helpful with up to date directions. My C7 is sans the nav system, and OnStar can still download directions to my destinations. The turns will show up in the DIC, along with spoken directions when needed. It's well worth the 35 bucks for all of that when we're out of town.
