Folks,
For over 20 yrs I've been a Euro sports car guy. Currently have a 03 SL55 AMG. Mostly recently sold 05 996 Turbo S cab. I am considering 17 C7 Z06. With the intro of the ZR1 and the much anticipated C8 - R, what are your thoughts regarding the possibility of accelerated depreciation on the 16-18 C7 ZO6s?
Every time a new generation of a car comes out everyone always asks this same question. To me, I bought the car I wanted and will enjoy it until I'm ready to buy another new car. I don't see the depreciation on my 2017 Z06 being any faster than normal because of either of those cars. If you want one go buy it and enjoy it instead of sitting on the sidelines worrying about it losing a little bit of value because it's not an investment anyway.

Depreciation is what it is, and of course it's never a good idea to buy a new car for an investment. Myself I wouldn't wait for GM to get the mid-engine Vette into showrooms. They have been promising a mid-engine Corvette for many many years. So skeptical is where I am at this time that the mid-engine will hit the market anytime soon.
Welcome to the forum. BTW, go ahead, get that Z06, and enjoy it now. It being a '17 the depreciation should already be built into the price.

I agree with this^^ Plus the C7s will be built alongside the C8s for a couple of years. And it is unlikely Chevy will come out with a Z06 version out the gate...I'd imagine they will want to work the kinks out (but that is speculation on my part). And when they do come out with the Z06, it will probably be a turbo. I don't see the C7s dropping in price faster than normal. It is a front engine, rear wheel drive car, the way Vetts were meant to be...and you can feel the power. The supercharger gives you power the moment you step on the gas, not after spin up. If you are looking for a change from European cars...get the C7 Z06!

I buy what I like without trying to guess what it will be worth in two or three or however many years down the road. There is no way to know exactly and you can be sure it will be worth less than you hoped. New cars are one of the worst investments you can make. Have fun with what you buy and do not worry about resale.
As posted, the '17's price has the depreciation built in, taking that out of the mix, and it makes sense to pull the trigger if you have found the car/options you want
