Default C7 Triple Flush Question

I recently had this service performed at my local dealer to address torque converter shudder. My question is this: Approximately how many miles would you expect the technician to put on your car while performing this service?

I thought there were an excessive amount in my case. Enough to warrant a conversation with the Service Manager who said that it seemed reasonable. I've read the TSB, and frankly don't agree. It was my first trip to this dealer as I am a new owner. I am trying to find a reliable dealer to build a relationship with, but this was a red flag to me. Maybe I am just being a little paranoid but I'd be very grateful if some of you in this forum might give me an idea of what you think is reasonable.

Thanks,

BDS

So how many miles did the tech put on your car?

IMHO I would say you should determine if this dealer is reliable based on whether they fixed your problem, not on how many miles it took them to perform all the TSB steps.

Considering the procedure was updated months ago and now only has us drop the pan, perform one fluid flush, clean the magnet on the pan and refill, there shouldn't be many miles. There is no more triple flush on the Corvettes. The bulletin does say that it may take up to 200 miles to fully see the decrease in shudder, but the car is supposed to be returned to the customer for that. The trans temps does have to be a specific temp when trying to duplicate the issue, but that also shouldn't take long to get into range.

Dealer might have recalibrated the tranny using the drive method. This takes a while and can accumulate around 50 miles.

They put 40 miles on the car. I am just concerned someone took advantage of me and took it for a joyride. I have spoken to other mechanics who say it seems high but they were not familiar with the specifics of the service.

40 MILES would not be excessive (IMNSHO). How long did they have the car?

I understand that this does not answer your question but I for one would not worry about it unless the car had a strong odor of burning rubber when it was returned to you. I might have been somewhat concerned about it on my first Corvette but this kind of thing no longer bothers me. Hopefully you got a good fix! Best of Luck.

If they drove it to reset the specs, then that is ok.

It takes about 200+ miles to determine if the flush corrected the issue. The dealer drove mine about 30 miles and said they could no longer replicate the issue after the flush but asked that I give it 200 more miles of testing before I could call it fixed. So 40 miles sounds like the dealer wanted to make sure it was fixed.

Besides, they have to drive it hard to get the tranny temps up to make sure its fixed. I wouldn't be concerned about 40 miles or if they went WOT. What could they possibly do to the car by driving it the same way you would?

Just had this procedure done with my 2016 z51 technician only drove the car for 15 miles to check for rpm fluctuating. Told to drive it for 200 miles
