I fully accept the fact that I will receive a lot of negative comments from this post, such as (don't read it) or (doesn't apply to all Vettes), or (stay off the forum), or whatever you clever guys/gals want to say; however my point is after reading all these faults with Vettes 2014 and later, why would anyone want to buy a car with the multitudes of problems these cars seem to be having. It's everything from transmissions to windshields to dashboards. You pay upwards of $60K for these cars, and they sound like problems just waiting to happen. Now I own a 2015 C7 Vert, and yes I've had the A8 problems (pain in the a$$), but as I read through this forum (because I'm retired and bored at the moment), it makes me want to place a for sale sign on this car before the next hammer drops. As the title says, "just venting"
Sounds like your first car forum. I've been on forums for 7-8 different manufacturers, and if internet forums are your yardstick, then every make and model ever built is a complete disaster.

OP needs to remember that out of TENS OF THOUSANDS of mass produced cars sold, there is ALWAYS going to be a certain percentage of them with issues.
And on a forum such as this, the proverbial "squeaky wheel" applies. Yet those numbers are very small compared to those who DON'T report (or experience) issues.
(FWIW, I bought one of the first 2014 Z51s and had ZERO serious issues with it, right up until I sold it a week or so ago)

I can tell you that you would never buy a Ford F-150 if you went on their forum. Please send me the keys to your Corvette and I'll happily drive it away for you.

Nah Foosh, not my first forum. You're right in that they're all full of problems and unhappy buyers, regardless of make or model, and that includes Harley's & Honda's, but it just makes me nervous thinking about what's going to happen next on my Vert. I'm just over the hassle with the A8, and not looking forward to dealing with GM on other issues after that experience.
Agree. Vehicle specific forums are both good and bad. This is where nearly everyone and anyone that is having an issue comes to vent and/or seek out help but it is not the first place everyone comes to talk about how great their vehicle is or has been for them. I belong to no fewer than 7 toy focused forums (including this one) and the experience is exactly the same. Sell em'all they are nothing but problems!!
Bottom line is there is no perfect motorized toy. Anything mechanical can break and likely will break at some point. Life is too short to live without toys.
Deal with problems when they arrive. You can't control some aspects of your life. If my car starts to give me a lot of headaches, I will sell it and move on. I've learned that long ago.

I know you're right Null Pointer! I'll send you the keys to my Vert just as soon as I receive your banking info along with a PIN number. :-)
I cut my teeth on English wager cars, also called "sporting" cars. The "sport" was wagering on whether the car would break down before it got you to your destination.
compared to the English wager cars, the c7 feels like I died and gone to heaven.
A hundred thousand, and more produced every day.....and a hand full of complaints. On a manufacturing bell curve I'd guestimate the c7 production ratio of perfects to problems is extraordinarily outstanding.

i know exactly how you feel plus a little. HVAC that doesn’t work right, the transmission issue, cracked windshield, paint popping on inside of hatch and the differential replaced.

This is what I'm banking on (and partly answering the OP's question).
It's a typical human response--let's use a restaurant as an example. Receive some bad service or food and a complaint is made right away. However, receive exceptionally good service or food and customer typically just walks out happy. (I rarely complain at a bad restaurant but I'll make sure I pass along a compliment if it was an exceptional experience). And this happens with cars (and other things) a lot. Lots of posts about various problems and few posts about how great the experience has been..although I noticed one today from a young lady (who stated she was 5' 2") who was happy with her purchase. Sadly, there are less of these posts than the complaints. On the other hand, assuming MOST of the Corvettes are relatively trouble-free, who wants hundreds and hundreds of "happy" threads? LOL
I know exactly what you are saying, OP. This forum nearly scared me out of buying a C7. Especially since I was torn between a Vette and a '19 Mazda MX-5 RF (or a Cayman or an F-Type). I had been on both forums (Mazda and this one) for a few months, and I have to say, the MX-5 owners are really a happy lot. Not a whole lot of complaining. Not a lot going wrong.
What it came down to for me was the looks of the C7 and the HP... So I took a risk because it was the Vette that called me the most. I also made sure to buy one that was still under warranty and not modified, so as not to void any factory warranty. We also have a relationship with our local Chevy dealer. If not for that, I probably would have not purchased my GS.
Am I still a bit paranoid about what the future holds with this car? Yup.. Every time I see a new post pop up complaining about some issue. But, in the meantime, I'll just enjoy it

How do you know a <insert favorite British Lehland make here> is out of oil? It's not leaking
How do you know a <insert favorite British Lehland make here> has a dead battery? There's no smoke coming from under the dash/hood

We have a '17 F-150, purchased new a year ago... We've put almost 20k problem free miles in it. We love this truck!
Lol... Come to think of it, we never visited the F-150 forum before we bought it. Ignorance is bliss sometimes!

Bought mine new in 2014 because I didn't want to become a guinea pig for the new all aluminum body. Only issue so far was having the brake master cylinder replaced under a recall. I am a member of a couple of the F-150 forums and have owned them for many years. The forums highlight the problems. I lurked the C7 forum for a while before I bought my C7 Z06, and I didn't let all the complaints about the A8 scare me away from it. Good luck with both your vette and F-150. BTW, I know somebody with a C5 vette, that is modded, and it is just about to turn 300,000 on the clock.

Mine is a 2014 Z51 Convertible and I have had ZERO significant issues. Had to replace the NPP ExHaust Contolers under warranty but what the heck; XXit happens. Other than that a perfect life from a damned near perfect beauty!!!!!
