I'm not a fan of plug in bullshit. Get it tuned. Only costs 2 HP Tuners credits ($100). Plus while they have your car you can get your transmission tuned so it bang shifts earlier (another 2 credits which also unlocks the ECU that controls throttle response so you can get that programmed to 1:1). And if you want to get the car properly tuned later you already have the proper ECUs unlocked so it's just dyno time after that.
That will void your warranty. If you don't care about it, by all means, do it.
What is the reason many C7 owner disable the AFM? Just recently purchased a 2015 Z51 with 13000 miles, and was trying to figure out if this is something I need to do.
If you have an M7 AFM is only active in Eco Mode. If you have an A8 AFM IS NOT ACTIVE in manual mode.
Mine feels like a completely different car with the Range. Runs, and shifts much smoother. Like Joe, I haven't noticed much difference in the mpg's. And, the Range will not void your warranty like an engine tune.
As I’m sure you know... Range will void warranty if you forget to remove it before you take your car to the dealer and they discover you’ve been using it. I confirmed that with my local dealer. Just remove it beforehand and its not supposed to leave fingerprints that it was ever there. Great device.

Oh yeah babe, I should have mentioned that. You certainly don't want to give the service writer a reason to deny warranty work when they are already looking for a reason.

Talked to mechanic yesterday and he mentioned they stop oil injection into cylinder when it goes to V4 mode yup all set with that doesnt sound like a great idea to me AFM will remain in my car
^ sounds about right. According to the SM guys, when you're cruising in V4 mode, after 10 min the computer forces V8 mode for 2 min to help cool things back down.
Mine gurgles in coastdown in a manner I don't care for with AFM turned on and a Corsa midpipe.
But I wanted to keep the feature, so I did a custom tune and turned if off below 100km/hr.
I also wanted to keep a warranty did that in my spare ECM, not my original. But then you need a GM dealer to set that up for you, so it's no cheaper than a module. Just more configurable.

I didn't know that. The plot thickens.

Well now, all that heating up and cooling down must be really good for the engine. I'm certainly not an mechanical engineer or a good mechanic for that matter, but I can't see how someone would think this is a good idea.

The more of these threads I read, the gladder I am to have my Range device providing a full-time V8.
Oil pressure is computer controlled via the pump, it drops it down so the squirters dont engage, I think it’s abot 50 psi they throw oil. There will still be oil tossed around from all the other stuff so it’s not completely without.

Makes perfect sense though. You don't need piston cooling in AFM!
