AFM Range Tech Idea
I don't know who makes the plugin module because I do my own mods in the code, not with a Range module. But I think it'd be nice if the Range module had a little slide switch on the top that offered a few different options:
- AFM ON
- AFM OFF below 35 mph
- AFM OFF below 66 mph
- AFM OFF
(Or heck even simpler, a rocker switch that just had two positions, AFM OFF and AFM OFF BELOW 65).
So that gives you the option to selectively turn it off in the city but keeping it for the highway, which is how I coded mine up. That lets me drop down to V4 at 75mph and just cruise cheaply.
Thoughts? Would you want it selectable? It'd be trivial for them to do.

afm on - plugged in
afm off- not plugged in
the rest is just an annoyance to fiddle with.
so no, not really useful to me.

Hmmm... so you can plug it in and out on the fly like a dongle? Like you're driving around and now you're on the highway and want AFM, it's OK to just unplug and replug it when the car is running and ON?
That's indeed about as easy as a switch, but normally electronics things don't like being plugged in and out like that, so I didn't know they supported that! But I guess it's just ALDL.

Just not clearly or articulately in a manner that communicated what you meant. Or with punctuation or capitalization. But yeah, you typed some words, they're right up there for everyone to read. Bored much?

Just put in an extension cable with a switch that you can easily reach. Many people did this when the range module was draining the battery. Then you can turn it on / off whenever you feel like it.

1) AFM plugged in= on Explanation - it's on, not off.
2) AFM not plugged in = off Explanation- it's off, not on.
3) The rest is just an annoyance to fiddle with - the rest of your idea sucks.
There, I've further explained it for you, but I can't understand it for you, that's on you.
Have a nice day.

PS: Why is that people think they can be dicks and then self-exonerate themselves with "Cheers" and a beer glass? A dick is a dick, emoticon or not. Own your actions.

While we're talking about "owning actions" how about showing some maturity when someone disagrees with you instead of throwing a temper tantrum and getting personal?

Can't we just all get along please! You wouldn't talk that way to someone standing in a grocery checkout line would you?

Im happy with the way it is now. I never want V4 mode. Especially since it may be the cause of torque converter issues.

GM made the decision for me when they made the "running improvement" to the 6.2 liter motor and eliminated the AFM, permanently, on the ZR1 engine. GM will never admit and state "oop's we F'ed U! Because they don't want to fix 100,000 already-built C7's. But actions speak louder than words: NO AFM on the ZR1.

I was one that had an older version (had it updated), and bought a switch like this so the unit wouldn't throw any CEL's. With the switch I don't have to worry about messing up the pins in the port plugging/unplugging the thing. The wife says I could tear up an anvil with a claw hammer. I just turn the Range on/off when I want too now. EZPZ
