It's doable but it's expense. Also I was under the impression that while the 14's and 15's didn't support Android Auto (early 16's like mine needed a firmware update to support AA), that CarPlay was supported on all C7's. Then again, I'm not an iGuy. You might want to just try it.
As for the USB cable it 1) functions to charge your phone. AA and probably CP, suck battery power as it's doing a lot o stuff and 2) is needed to project data to the big screen. As a bonus you get audio through the USB wire, which has a lot more bandwidth than BT and thus has better, louder sound.
I know that there's supposed to be an AA version that works wirelessly using in car WiFi but there are two questions I have yet to hear the answer to. First, is any special hardware needed. Secondly do you need a WiFi data plan. Now the C7 has WiFi and you can buy a data plan (though why would you - it's no better than your phone's cellular connection). But the data plan is really to connect from your car to the internet. If all I want to use WiFi for is for my phone to talk to my car but not the internet, can I get away without having to pay for a data plan? (my cellular plan has unlimited data so that's not a concern for me).

Ah, so if I plug it in as opposed to BT my music will be louder?
I've heard the LTE module in the car is a more powerful version than the phone. It was explained to me that if my phone doesn't have signal the car still will.

Yes. The frequency band for wired is much larger than the frequency band for BT. Ergo more sound.

I've heard similar claims - cept they said a bigger antenna. I don't buy it unless I see real evidence. As I understand it you need to buy a data plan and you'll get an AT&T one I think. There's a possibility that in a given area, AT&T covers it better than your provider. However there is an equal chance that your provider will cover the area and AT&T won't. All in all, to me, it isn't worth the additional expense.
As I recall this module will take your ‘15 to the same functionality as the ‘16 which has CarPlay. The ‘16 was the first year to have CarPlay. Since the upcoming IOS upgrade will allow WAZE to be used over CarPlay, I think upgrading the infotainment unit to have CarPlay is a great idea.
Item 2 playing music over USB is better as it sounds better (move bandwidth) and you get to see the artist title info.
Looks like the same company is selling the same module on eBay for $300 less. It talks about how you get GPS and navigation. I've already got all that. I just want Carplay. It shouldn't cost so damn much.
