Default Memory seat operation

I have a 2019 Grand Sport that I got on June 29. On July 1st we left Calif. For a trip to the Midwest and back home of almost 8,00 miles. During the trip I had trouble with the seat memory recall function. About 98% of the time it would not position automatically when starting the engine. I found that by leaving the door open then pushing the number one button on the door it worked. So when we got back home I took it to the local Chevy dealer , Boardwalk Chevy, the mechanic said that all functions were normal and no repair needed.
He gave me a copy of a GM document ID: 5121458 it xplains that there are two switches that affect the seat operation. After reading it I remembered how my 2008 Corvette would move the seat all the way rearward then forward about a half inch when doing the exit function. So I positioned the steering wheel and then the seat rearward then about a half inch forward away from the rear bulkhead which has one of the switches in it. Then set the exit function button. Now when starting the engine the seat moves ,the steering wheel moves and everything is good. If you have any questions you can call me at 650-867-5553, Bill.

I think you'll find that the emergency brake has to be activated for the entry/exit memory to function. You are correct about moving the seat forward a short distance from full rearward position.

Yes my seat goes all the way back at Exit. Only time I’ve ever had an issue it when I don’t set the park brake.

I have never tried the emergency brake . But I do know that after the method I wrote about , the recall function works perfectly.

Wanted to add my comment about an ongoing issue I’m having. When I use a memory recall, be it the Easy Exit or push buttons 1 or 2, my seats and tilt work flawlessly. The problem I’m having is with my driver side mirror driving to a position not stored in memory. Mostly it will drive max down. My dealer can’t figure it out AND my bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired, so they’re not too motivated to help me. It’s a royal pain to have to reposition my mirror often. I have done the following actions to no avail:

*Memory Module reprogramming
*Mirror position module replace
*Driver mirror position sensor/actuator (the motor portion with position sensors)
*Battery replacement
*Reset setting to factory default and restore positions
*Replaced FOB and /or used FOB#2
Next thing I’ll be replacing is the memory module under the driver’s seat.

Please let me know if you ever find the fix. From day one both of my side mirrors will not retain memory. They both move in all the way when I press the memory number button. I have tried reprogramming numerous times to no avail. My dealer claims they have never heard of this problem.

I sure will. For now I’ve resorted to adjusting my seat and steering wheel “manually.” That way my mirrors don’t move.

Any chance you're starting the car in reverse and have the mirror tilt function set to go all the way down when in reverse?

Good thought, but no. Reverse Tilt is not enabled. Thanks.

Update: The next time I started my car in reverse I noticed the passenger mirror did not tilt down. It only appears to do that when shifting into reverse with the engine running.
