There are no ads, I have Pandora Premium = no ads, get to choose and save the songs you want, and can use the higher bit rate if you want to. I do, and frankly am very pleased with it. To each their own, of course!
How much is that Pandora Premium costing you? I pay $0.00.
$0 is the free version with ads. $12/month is the premium version. A little steep if you ask me. Everybody else is $9.99.
I did an annual subscription, at the time I think it was $78 for the year = $6.50 / month. I completely understand that some see no reason to pay (Defaria). For me, I greatly enjoy several aspects of the service, and obviously feel it is worth what I feel is a small amount. To each his own, no worries either way.
For $54/yr I use Pandora at home, cell phone at the gym and on the road. I use a mini/aux cable because of intermittent BT connectivity problems. Aux has better fidelity than BT in all vehicles that I have experienced. But you do have to have a cable lying ready, and you lose the cars screen control and song info. Of course with my way that is on the cell phone.
To each his own but I do try to understand the other side. What do you get out of paying? You see I have a fairly large collection of music and it's all in Google Music so I can get to all of my songs without issue. Perhaps there's something about the presentation or functionality of Pandora that you see as worth the cost. I don't see it. It's just another media player that plays songs.

I use Google Play Music at home, cell phone and on the road like you use Pandora. Still trying to understand the value add.
Note that all of my music also resides at my house as does my videos and pictures. If I were to spend any money to access my media I would do so with a Plex Pass as I run a Plex Server at home. Plex is even integrated into AA. Paying for a Plex Pass would almost make sense as it would not only handle my music but everything else. Still I don't feel it's really worth the money as again, all of my music is on Google Music and I have it also downloaded to my phone so what would I pay money for?

The main thing about Pandora is to set your 'radio stations'. Either choose some or make up your own. For instance my wife and I have various. From Deadmau5 to Spa music. And based on the title, the Pandora computers send you related songs. Some you know, some you don't. Then you give the songs a thumbs up or down. And in a few days or weeks you've got a whole genre of music new or old, most songs you like, that plays continuously. The background thump and power of my Deadmau5 channel gives me the drive to work out at the gym an hour every day.
