Keep us updated brother. The problem I have will be that "Winters Coming" (sorry, I'm a Game of Thrones Fan) it will take me a bit longer to get the required 500 miles to see if the fix takes.

That's the part I pulled from recent info on the forum and corroborated with the service guy as well when I went in.

But I do love the southern accent, and try as I might to retain that small part of my heritage. I can turn it on, and off depending on the situation.
It’s all good my brother.... I’m hoping I didn’t offend you in any way...certainly none was intended.

Update: Tried the latest Range device today. Worked great! No surging or hesitations and it stayed in V8 mode the entire time!

Must have just been a defective unit. Who knows. They sent me a prepaid label to return the first one.
Great company!

Well, got the trans fluid changed today, and the part number was the same as used in 16C7Z's car. I talked with the Tech and he explained the shudder comes from the TC kind of skipping against the plate before it locks. He was confident this would clear mine up. However, I will hold off on my optimism until I see for sure.

I wussed out on the "warble" as I just wasn't in the mood to fight that battle today. I told the Service writer I would get back with him about it soon. I will say I was quite impressed with the service I received. The Service Writer was very helpful. I cheated, and talked to the Tech this morning at a local coffee shop that both of us frequent. When I arrived the Tech took the car out for a short time, and put it right on the lift when he returned. Done, and done.

Fingers are crossed this takes care of the shudder for you, Rebel. Definitely keep us posted! I kind of regret not just going through with the flush when I had it there, but oh well... With the Range in place, I feel better anyway

Reb, I have driven my car about 150 miles since getting the tranny flush. The shifting is very smooth now, even the first 1-2 shift which has always been pretty rough. I have not noticed any shuddering but I am using a Range all the time now. I am headed on a 400 mile road trip next weekend and may turn off the Range and see if I feel anything when it goes into V4 mode but I am tempted just to leave well enough alone and keep it in V8 mode all the time.

As for the warble I don't hear it while driving around town but I do hear what sounds like differential whine at low speeds but it may also be tire whine, I can't tell for sure. For now, I am leaving well enough alone and plan to drive the car and try to enjoy it. I am keeping my eyes and ears open for a replacement, maybe a new Z4. I haven't ruled out a C8 but not enamored with the mid-engine design.

Thank you ma'am, I'm hoping this will settle one problem. I do really enjoy this car, and I'm sure I will enjoy it more without the shudder. And, you can always take your's in if you want. If it's doing fine, just get 'er out there, and have a ball.

Update us when you get home Colonel. I'm glad to hear the shifting is better. That's one step in the right direction. My dealer in approx. 4 miles from my house all at 35 mph, so I really couldn't tell much. We'll be taking it to Myrtle beach in Dec. for several weeks. That should get some miles on it, and tell me if it's going to be good. Enjoy your trip, and I get it about the Range. On one hand I would like to test the car in V4 mode, but on the other I don't want to poke the bear.

Rebel, the dealership told me that it would take about 300 miles before it can be determined if the triple flush worked. After 300 miles it took out 95% of the shudder for me. The range took care of the rest.

That's good to hear Cowboy. They only did the single flush on mine, but I do hope I get the same results. And, like you I will be running the Range 100% of the time from now on.

The Range makes the Z06 run like it should have from the factory. The Range and ceramic brake pads are the two best changes I have made.

Is there any need for a range device if I operate the A8 in manual most of the time?
