Default Range Extension for Universal Remote System?

I found the Universal Remote System very convenient. It is nice to get rid of the remotes for my gate and garage. The only complaint I have with the system is its limited range.

Does anyone else see this as a problem? Can anything be done to increase the range of the System?

What you can do is add IOT capability to your gate and garage. Some new garage door openers have WiFi builtin now. But you can add the function to pretty much any garage door or gate that had good WiFi coverage. I used WEMO Maker, and IFTTT geofencing. When I drive up, the garage opens for me because my smart phone sense it entered the geofence and triggers the WEMO Maker to open the garage.

There are now many manufacturers that do the similar things. Each has their advantages/disadvantages and limitations and costs. What I have is not perfect and there certainly seems to be a lot of security concerns about this technology. I am sure as time marches on new competitors will improve the technology.

Thanks. This is a good option if you have a home network, but our internet coverage here is too limited. We are lucky to have cell coverage, albeit sparce.
