Doing about 65-75 MPH I hit a J-walking Pheasant on a narrow 2 lane US Highway. No time to react to avoid it. It took out the center of my grille and lodged behind it in front of the radiator. I knew my insurance agent would want pictures so it rode home with me. After the agent took pictures and busted a gut laughing I cleaned it out. Estimates are $900+ and I have to pay the $250 comprehensive deductible. Maybe if I had my front license plate on like my state requires, there wouldn't have been near the damage or maybe none at all. By the way my agent is a Mustang guy! Maybe that's why he thought it was funny.
Due to the photo being so small, it's difficult for me to evaluate the damage so I'm wondering if only the grille is damaged or is your front bumper also needing repair. If the grille is the only damage, the $900 estimate seems very steep. Now might also be a good time to upgrade to a Z06/Grand Sport grille, if you like the style of the Z06/GS grille.
It appears only the grill is damaged but will find out if anything else is when the front comes off. The estimate, at the chevy dealer, is $440 for parts and $463 labor which I also think is steep but my agent says it's in the ballpark. I like the idea of a GS grille and would be willing to pay the difference if my insurance would allow it. Would it fit my 15 Stingray Z 51?
Yes, the grille will fit...you will want one that doesn't have the front cameras in it (since your 2015 didn't come with front cameras) which will be a lower cost grille too. I haven't priced them lately, but I think the Z06 non-camera grille was only a couple hundred bucks, but they may have increased since.
