I dropped mine off for a detail job and engaged Valet mode. I knew he would have to move the car so I also turned on the PDR camera. When I picked it up I watched the film clips where he moved it 7 times. I could see his speed, rpm, and time he was driving. Most times the camera stayed on long enough to watch him walk away from the car after the move so I could tell it was always the same guy driving it. I'll use valet mode every time I drop it off for service now.
Perfect testimonial. ^^^^ Damn glad I've got PDR.

It only comes on when the ignition is turned on and stays on a few seconds after it is turned off.
Thanks. That's what I was asking: once you set it up once during valet mode....
So that's good that it's only on when someone turns it on...saves the memory chip. But then you can't see if someone's doing anything else while it's off.
Trade off.
Since the 14s don't have PDR, I installed a BlackVue camera. It comes on when the ignition is on and shuts down when you lose RAP. It has speed, location, and allows me to watch any "testing" a shop might do on my car.
Lisa, I think the Valet is on all C7s. The cubby hole is on all cars. (My logic on this answer.)
