Default What does valet mode do?

I know, I should read the manual, but I dropped my car off for a clearbra installation, so I don't have it. I put it in valet mode, but then I got to thinking it may prevent them from opening the trunk, fuel access door, hood or something else they need. Can someone tell me the functions of valet mode? I may have to call them and give them the code.

If they have a problem, they will call you. When I needed a new windshield, Safelite got ahold of me before I left their facility when I had engaged the Valet mode.

Does it keep them from putting it into track mode and using launch control? No
Does it keep them from putting it in track mode and turning off all the nannies and do donuts until the tires are bald? No
Does it keep them from driving past red line in a quest to go 200 mph? No.
Does it reduce the power available to the driver in any way? No
Does it do anything one would think valet mode should do? No

Does it engage the PDR (if you have one) so you know they're doing all those things to your car that only you should do? I think so.

After walking through their garage, (Auto Armour in San Diego) I shouldn't be too concerned. They seemed like a very professional outfit, and the caliber of cars they were working on put my meager GS vert to shame! My question was, will it prevent them from opening the trunk or the fuel door, which they need access to.

Only if you intentionally engage it. It's not automatic.

The PDR in Valet Mode, is worth it's weight in gold. As are the Front Cameras AND HUD. HUD has a GPS generated SLI. More gold!

Yes, it does keep them from opening the trunk. Are you having a full body coverage applied? If it's just the front, then don't worry. As long as the car is unlocked the hood can be opened w/o alarm (Valet mode makes no difference).

Valet mode locks the infotainment screen, glove box and trunk and convertible top. PDR has already been addressed.

Oh, and here is the downloadable version of the OM:

https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...ers-manual.pdf

It's a good idea to keep on your phone, just in case.

If you don't have PDR, you'll never know how your car was driven. Without PDR, you have no way of knowing how your car was driven, if at all - if that's important to you.

I've never used it, but I looked in the manual (18 in this case), and it wasn't easy to find. Fact is, the manual is not specific in terms of what stays locked and what stays open. Infotainment system is locked, and it simply says "certain storage compartments are locked."

That video doesn't even address that (if equipped), it will also lock trunk and convertible top.

IDK if the latter two are a matter of trim level or if even a 1LT will lock those as well.

I dropped mine off for a detail job and engaged Valet mode. I knew he would have to move the car so I also turned on the PDR camera. When I picked it up I watched the film clips where he moved it 7 times. I could see his speed, rpm, and time he was driving. Most times the camera stayed on long enough to watch him walk away from the car after the move so I could tell it was always the same guy driving it. I'll use valet mode every time I drop it off for service now.

Good for locking up your Pocket Rocket when you have to go into Buffalo Wind Wings

Is the PDR constantly on, or just when the car is turned on and a bit after it's turned off?

Another good reason to have it on your phone (or computer or whatever) is that it is searchable.

When car is on and for maybe 20 seconds after.
