You guys dont know something canadian vette market is much different than US market!! Almost everywhere is MSRP or close. I got lucky to score 10% of an ordered 2019!!
When I had my 01 z06 all I ever heard was “ don’t buy an 01 it’s an oil burner “
My friend had a C6 z06 with the LS7. When he went to sell it the first thing asked would Be “ have you had the heads done yet ? “.
Now this engineering marvel from GM. Go to sell it and get to hear “ does it have the shudder? Did it have the “ fix “ ? “
No thanks. The M7 seems to be proven relatively trouble free.
I also had an 01 Z06. I had to have the first year modern Z06. I loved that car.
I loved the 7 liter small block, but could never buy it from fear about the heads. Wish I could have owned one of them.
I really want a C7, but my left leg is bad and no longer suited for spirited shifting. Wish the A8 was flawless, oh well.
Agreed. I walked in and picked up a 2019 GS off the lot that was made 2 months earlier and get almost exactly 13% off too.
Depends on the dealer. No one in my region gives over a 5% off discount ordering one. When you tell them to match price, they act hurt. That other guy orders em from way out of State. That's no great feat. I got -17% off in-State. Yes, I'm a hero too. 😛
I used the Costco program for my ordered 2019 M7, and negotiated an extra $2,000 on top of Costco's discount. There were no incentives at the time of delivery.
That's outside the Chev. dealership rebates. Not the same thing as the OP, is trying to engineer - at this time. He can save a bundle on old leftover stock. That's hard to accomplish locally every time - and get it how he wants it equipped. My -17% off MSRP, was a needle in the haystack of a find, in-State no less! I'm covered by State Lemon Laws. Unlike most of the guys ordering from across the Continent.
This guy may be in Canada, and if so, he's scr#wed on paying through the nose when it comes to ordering a new one anyway.

From what I have seen I would agree it's a different market up here. I see used Corvettes that are 2 years old and not discounted much from their original MRSP. New ones have GM incentives an some have a decent discount from MSRP, but not much...

I just went through this buying a daily driver C7. I've got a 91 ZR-1 that's a fun "old school" manual for when I need that, so didn't have to have the manual for the C7. However after really thinking about it, I ended up going with the manual in the C7 as well, and I'm very happy that I did. The C7 manual is without a doubt the best manual I've ever driven, and it's a blast to drive. I've had some good autos (8speed in a 2014 Jeep SRT was probably the best), but there's still something lost when driving an automatic. Yes, it's easier, faster in a straight line, and way better if you deal with traffic, but a true manual with a clutch makes for a much more involving driving experience. Having said that, if my daily commute had a ton of traffic, I would have definitely gone with the auto, fortunately I don't have to deal with much (if any) traffic day to day.
Buying the current A8.. In the back of your mind, you're always going to wonder when the thing will take a dump. For that simple reason, there's no way I would touch an A8 with their current issues.
Have to agree 100%.
I've seriously been considering a C7 (Grand Sport) and doing my research.
Here's where I'm at..
A USED C7 w/A8.. uh-uh.. no way! Just buying a known problem. At the very least, well on it's way to taking a dump. You have no idea how close the torque converter is to failure.
I feel for the guys trying to sell right now. This is on GM in a BIG way. Really has me questioning if GM is the way to go at all.
Brand New C7 w/A8.. maybe could save myself some serious problems by making sure it has the latest Tans.Fluid, driving it in Sport Mode only and installing the Range Device.
But like @airmed2 said, it's still a known problem swirling around in the back of your mind. Why would you throw down that kind of $$ on something that you know could be a huge problem. N' then when you go to sell it (Used), there's this story cloud hanging over your head the whole time.
Just waiting to see what this "permenant fix from GM" is going to be.
Not likely to lay down one thin dime 'till that info. comes out.
Does anyone know of a permenant after-market solution yet?

So then you're not a Corvette owner but you come on the forum to slam the car. That will give you a lot of credibility.
I guess the choice is stick and slightly higher payment or auto with buyer’s remorse.
Yeah; when you boil it down like that it's pretty clear.
Mrs Flex said she's going to contribute to the down-payment fund too, so there's that. Not sure if I will let her, but...it's a nice gesture considering she doesn't drive.
