Does anyone know when the sticker is installed on the door jam? This is the sticker that has the VIN#, build date, air pressure etc.
Is it made up at the time the car is at the finish of the assembly line? If not how would they know what build date to put on the sticker. It would seem that the sticker would have to be printed off and installed just as the car was being pulled off the line.
Interesting question. I have done several plant tours in Bowling Green and never observed that particular procedure. Once a car starts down the assembly line it is done in a day unless it starts down the line near the end of the day. So if the sticker is applied to the body pre-assembly, it could be a day off if the car was still in the middle of the line at the end of the day. One day isn't really going to make a big difference in the scheme of things.
The sticker in my car says it was built in December of 2013. It came off the line January 6th of 2014. so it must go on before it starts down the line. They were shut down for Christmas holiday.
I'd imagine there is a window around the printed date on the sticker that is allowed for actual completion. I've seen a number of owners here remark of inconsistencies in their car "records."
Go to your dealer and ask for a GMVIS report - that will tell you the exact date your Corvette was completed. As well as all options and any records of service work done at a GM dealer.
