I agree.
But neither is using deadly force to protect your gas tank.

The state I live, like many other states, has concealed carry laws that allow it's citizens to carry firearms on their persons. This right comes with responsibilities. They grant this right not so citizens can use firearms to shoot squirrels in their back yard but to protect life, limb, and property.

You'd have a HELL of a time justifying the use of deadly force over someone stealing fuel. I don't care WHICH state you're in....

Let's not hijack this thread to discuss constitutional rights.

You could still NEVER be able to justify the use of deadly force simply because someone was siphoning gas outa your 'vette

(if you're serious about that you shouldn't be carrying, seriously)

FYI, I put a plug/scrivet in my gas door.
For all of us using a plug of any kind, you might want to check and see if it still locks without a plug.
I just checked mine with the fuel door wide open using my fob to lock and unlock the car/fuel door to see what the rod was doing.
And, the tip of the rod that locks the fuel door is visible when looking in the hole it comes out of, but, its now stuck down inside the fender.
It still clicks and moves around when locking and unlocking the car, but it does not come out out of the hole to lock the fuel door.
I don't care either way and leaving the plug installed, but figured I'd put this out there for anyone interested

I agree with all the other comments but you can also open the drivers door and push the unlock button on the door until it beaps twice, this will keep the door unlocked while you are getting gas. The door will resume auto function after you open and close the door again! Download C7 owners manual on line!

FYI, there may be a difference in model year, but my 2016 does not work that way.
With Auto lock activated if I open the door and hold the Unlock button it beeps 3 times and shuts off Auto lock.
Then it will stay Unlocked not matter how many times I open and close the door.
Auto lock will only become Active again if I use the ACC mode, Service Mode or, start the engine
.
