Infotainment Screen flickering cheap fix
#21
This is the Bottom of screen where the screen connection is located.. I popped the screen Housing off of the front and used pliers to fold down the middle portion of the plastic in order to unplug the connection and reconnect.
This is the Wire harness connection from the car itself
I trimmed the plastic overhang where the metal is located so that my connection would fully swat and then I taped the two together for added security
The connection that will seat onto the frame of the screen
Used a dremmel to cut factory wire housing from the factory blue wire connection and fixated it on the new wire in order to have a place to secure it to the frame in its original seating place. ( u can easily get creative and secure how you want
Ok fellas here are some updates pics to give guys a more vivid pic of what I did.. and the screen actually working

I have been having this flickering issue almost immediately after i purchased a 2014 that had 6000miles on it when purchased used. The car was out of warranty of course. I had read online that when the screen starts to flicker, lightly honking the horn temporarily fixes the issue (which apparently worked for me). But the screen will go back to flickering eventually. I have noticed that warmer temperatures make the issue more frequent (for example, when car starts on a cold day the screen generally works fine. However after driving for awhile though and the car had an opportunity to heat up, the screen would start to flicker). I wonder if anyone who is having flickering issue has noticed something similar to my experience. And I wonder if the fix mentioned in the thread would fix my flickering issue.

I am extremely motivated to try this. First thing however I'll need to figure out would be to open up the dash(?) to expose the inside. Can someone help me with tips on how to go about it? thank you

I went to settings for the radio and "reset to factory". I do not have my phone connecting to the car. I have NO flickering after the reset.
Put in a new battery last week. The flickering came back with all the computer resets. Just went in and reset the radio back to factory and no flicker. I have gone a couple years and no flicker after the radio reset. FYI.

I tried the radio reset yesterday. But it did the flickering pretty soon afterward. it was definitely exacerbated by lowering/raising the screen. As the screen was moving down, immediately the screen blackened and showed static-like white dots all over the screen. When it came up, the screen was black. I am starting to think this is the wiring issue as the OP has dealt with. However this doesn't really explain the fact that honking the horn temporarily makes the slight flickering subside. It is a total mystery to me. But I really don't feel like spending a lot of money replacing the whole unit.

I tried ordering the same cable from Amazon. I realized that I ordered the wrong cable. Male end was incorrect. This was after I took apart the dash! I had to figure out something. I didn't want to pull apart the dash twice! So, the solution? I pulled the cable out of the unused connector (White/Gray) I took my heat gun to it, soften the plastic, careful don't melt it. It will pop right out! Do the switch, whoa! Problem solved!!!

Yes, it is not connected to anything. Just move it over You will have to cut away the plastic underneath the monitor, as shown in the this thread. I did order the the correct cable from Amazon, for back up. It is a lot thicker cable.

Perfect, I really appreciate it. Surprised me that there is a second cable with no connection. It doesn't look pretty all taped up and superglued into the bracket and behind the dash, but is back together, my screen is back to functioning like it was meant to, and you can never tell I had the dash or screen apart from the outside!
The additional unused USB looking connector on the wire bundle from the dash harness to the screen threw me off as well.
