Default 2LT vs 3LT per year?

What were the changes (specifically in the dash covering) of the 2LT and 3LT trim levels per year? I have noticed several cars advertised at 2LT after MY 2015 that appear to have the portion of the dash above the steering wheel the same color as the seats etc.. ie Kalahari. I thought the dash was the same color in the 3LT only. Thanks.

I believe 2014 is the only year where the entire dashboard was covered in the seat color if you had a 3LT. Here is my 2014 3LT and as you can see the Kalahari leather is almost up to the windshield:

In later years was only the dash above the wheel (at the HUD) covered in the 3LT?

Even though not meant as such, what's are the odds on this thread becoming yet another heated 1LT-2LT vs 3LT 'which is best discussion? I'd say pretty high. Especially after Skid Row Joe joins in

Definitely not the plan but who knows. I am just trying to narrow down my search. I thought I knew but have found a few odd things in my results of late.

Isn't amazing how much info and especially contradictory info you pick up while searching for a C7 to purchase? Just as you think you have it figured out you run into one that fit's outside the mold.

Very true. There is a Cyber Grey advertised as a 1LT but it has Kalahari seats and console door. A closer look at the climate controls clearly shows no heated or cooled seats but Kalahari is only a selection on 2LT and above. I guess someone went to the trouble to change some of the interior pieces. Makes my search a little more difficult.

I had a 1LT C6 that I changed the seat covers to two tone red and black and changed the console lid which was not available. It’s easy to do. The tip off should be the dash and door panels. Not as easy to do.

In 14 and 15 the kalahari 3lt was like mayor111’s picture. In 16 they changed the 3lt to be like red and grey’s 3lt. In either 17 or 18 they added the upper dash trim as seen in the 3lt to the 2lt in all colors. In 14 and 15 only kalahari, I think, had the full dash treatment to the window while the red and grey 3lt did not.

In the later C7 MYs of the 3LT dashboards, the unicolored dashboard has been replaced by the bi-color dashboard. That is, your chosen interior color plus Black as the two-toned trim on the dashboard portions of the 3LT. If ordering a 3LT Jet Black interior, then the dashboard color will appear unicolored.

The early Kalahari interior looks absolutely spectacular! Like a big big buck very high dollar car.

Yep, Spice Red (and a Blue on special limited model) are the only current interior colors that matched what I had in my 3LT 2014 Kalahari. GM got cheap and IMO the 3LT now looks like a patch work quilt! I almost bought a black interior for the Grand Sport, which avoids all these issues. But bought a 2 LT 2017 Grand Sport with Adrenaline Red Interior and added an Adrenaline Red upper dash pad. Avoids that colored panel on the glove compartment which IMO is sitting by itself in a sea of black. Funny GM did the same for the 2018 2LT, copied my idea! It avoids that 3LT colored panel above the glove compartment, which make it look "patch work quilt" IMO.

Aesthetics are personal so to each their own!

I was buying a Jet Black interior only, so it was destined for the preferred monocolored interior.

I'd definitely buy a 2LT next time due to my dash coming apart.
