Bought the light KenHorse recommended...very nice btw.
The USB's in the center console, are they powered all the time?
Car was off, plugged into the USB and the light came on without switching on carpower. If these USBs receive power all the time this certainly is not going to work.

Looks like a nice add on to the center console, but I too would want to know if the light stays on all the time when connected to the USB port.

On my car, the RAP seems to turn off the USB power in the center console. Takes a few minutes. If you open the doors, or start the engine, USB power comes back on and will not power off until the engine is off and RAP times out.

That would be what I thought. RAP was running.

Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
When you drive the car and stop. Turn off the engine but don't open the door. Does your radio continue to play? RAP When you open the door, does the radio stop? RAP stopped.
RAP will continue for 10 minutes and then the radio will turn off whether you open the door or not.
