Why the hell doesn't GM use led bulbs for cargo area and license plate in the first place? WTF? Paul
apparently a user in this thread said you can use CAN LED bulbs which are superior to plain LED bulbs. CAN Bus LED bulbs are simple plug-and- play LED bulbs which are made specifically for CAN Bus-equipped vehicles. These bulbs work with your vehicle's advanced computer system, so when your vehicle's computer reads them, they respond back correctly. To see if your vehicle operates with a CAN Bus system, simply remove the bulb you're looking to replace, start your vehicle, and if you have a "Bulb Out" message on your dash you have a CAN Bus system. Look earlier in this thread for the link to the vendor that sells these bulbs.

And as I said, non CAN LEDs haven't caused my '19 to bitch one bit about 'em
For years people posted they replaced the rear hatch lights and license plate bulbs with aftermarket LED bulbs and in all those years I didn’t read people regretted it or reported problems. So I for one don’t believe it’s a wide spread problem.
I would also wonder if those can-leds had built in resistors anyway to prevent the hyper-flashing. I did this to my 2006 mustang. Needed resisters for the LEDs to flash right for my turn signals.

The link posted for the CNA LEDs have the resistors. Appears they sell them seperately. Check it out.

Turn signals in the C7 are already LED (same for tail lights)

Bean counters. If there is a savings of 30 cents a car just multiply. They did the same thing on my C6 with the under hood light. By the way, my second gen CTS had crazy bright LED back up lights but my 3rd gen 2016 did not come with LED back up bulbs. Ponderous......
I spoke to someone at West Coast Corvettes about this issue. He said they have sold hundreds of the LED replacement lights for the rear hatch and license plates with no reported issues.
He believes the reason GM started adding that warning is because people are installing elaborate aftermarket LED systems to light up their footwells, Louvres and engine compartments and those are overloading the circuits they are spliced into.
I had the replacement LED lights for 4+ years on my 2014 with no issues. They have been on my 2019 for a few weeks and so far no issues.
Hmm, and I was just about to change out the dull awful lights above my license plate. Wife's Genesis has poppin' bright LED license plate bulbs that are beautiful to look at. Don't understand why GM didn't put these on the C7 to begin with? No I have another concern to worry and ponder over ...
I swapped out the OEM bulbs in the rear hatch area three years ago no problems. I did NOT replace the rear license plate bulbs with LED because I did not want to highlight my license plate at night
