That's how my 75 year old mother described it after I took her for a spin. She said it was like a caged beast trying to escape, like the car was mad you made it sit still

My '17 LT4 is smoother than my '14 LT1 It does seem to just turn out that way with factory settings

I haven't noticed much vibration in mine. Mine also idles at 650 rpms not 600.

When I drive my wife's Acura RDX, I sometiimes exit the vehicle with the engine running (and get crap from my wife for doing so): no vibration with the engine on or off vs. my C7.

I would know nothing about my car if it wasn't for this forum. I heard it today and I don't think I've ever noticed it before. Had it less than a month. I was thinking, what in the **** is that noise? Minor, but there. Now I know.

50 more rpm will make it stop shaking.

I have found that to be completely normal of my C7 too. Shake @ idle. I'm also finding a slight falling on it's face before rocketing in acceleration when anywheres near cold after start up. All of my turbocharged diesels over 30 years have had a very smooth idle with no vibration. Somewhat odd that the LT1 shakes at idle, but it does.

Most modern engines run really smooth, when I first got this C7 I also thought it was misfiring at idle. The cam isnt that radical for a 6.2 liter, I think the slight roughness is designed in.

Better known as valve overlap in high performance engines

Yes it is normal. Has been happening for a while - all three of my C5s did it.

When I bought my C6 I had it inspected by the dealer but never drove it. Once I drove it I was terrified I got screwed because it was shaking at idle, as I had never been in another Corvette. After getting used to the car, and riding in other Vettes, I now know it's normal. C7 does the same thing. I imagine it's a characteristic of a high HP pushrod V8?

This post must be a joke. A sports car “shakes a little”. Geez. Buy a Cadillac or Mercedes.

I wouldn't say it's a characteristic, because manufacturers have been able to get engines to idle pretty damn smooth down into the 400rpm range for a while now. It's definitely an intentional thing. Not necessarily designed in, but could be an accidental thing and was left that way because it makes people feel good about their sports car.

It's not from a "hot" cam. My C6 Z06 has more displacement and a "hotter" cam and more horsepower than the LT1 and has no vibration at idle.

Check this out. It might be s solution for your problem. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...ation-960.html
