I find the gTr to be incredibly ugly - it looks like a toilet on wheels imho. That said, it is a great performer, but i could never get past the looks of it. They won't be writing songs about it most likely....
Get what you want of course but since you asked Get the Z06
ETA: I have a "lowly" Stingray but when i am driving around i get lots and lots of looks from people of all ages; kids, car enthusiasts, chicks, etc. They are not looking at me of course they are looking at the car, same way i look at it when it sits in the driveway or somewhere. It's a hot design done right by GM even 6 years later it is still turning heads in a good way.
The gTr might turn heads but not in that good way i mentioned. Some people who really know what it is will stare at it just like i do, but they are probably amazed that such an incredible performing machine comes in such a lousy looking package.

Not sure where you got this but a new GTR is NOT 151k.
I owned a 2013 GTR for a couple of years and thought it was a fun car. It isn't as common as all of the corvettes you will see around and definitely comes with the Godzilla mystique and exclusivity all its own. It will beat most z06s on the street from a dig and is very consistent. With the AWD and DCT all you have to do is mash the go pedal and it takes off. I got bored of mine because I didn't really like the DCT (not very engaging) and decided to get back into a manual sports car. Both cars have huge modification potential and aftermarket parts are everywhere. You will be able to save money with the z06 since there are so many of them and most dealers will take a significant amount of money off MSRP. In my opinion a new GTR is overpriced and if you decided to get one I would get a 2017 or 2018 (newest body refresh). You cant go wrong with either choice.

- Having zero hands on experience with the gtr - my take is the vette - especially a manual shift vette - will be a more visceral driving experience. One that requires more driver skill - but possibly also more engagement. And for some that means more fun.
The GTR will be an easier car to drive. less likely to spin out on you. still fast. but requires less skill.
You should check the Nissan forums for any known issues with the car.
One thing I've noticed is there are simply fewer options with the GTR. Only a couple different colors for paint. only a couple colors for interior. The vette you can customize almost everything.

I am a first time vette owner and I only have a 17 GS but the reason why I got it was basically its supercar looks. Everyone has their own taste and I respect that but for GTR type of money, there's probably a few cars I would take over it.

stock for stock from a roll GTr isn't even in the Z06's ball park.

I had a 2012 GTR bought it used and trade my 08 ZO6 for it. Love the car. A month later decided to buy a new one, 2015 model. Back then Nissan offered 10,000 dollar discount and paid 91.
The car is full time all wheel drive so when your backing up or forward turning you’ll hear all mechanical sound popping underneath, thinking something is wrong but normal. You’ll get more attention at the car show, you don’t see too much of GTR. You see a lot of Vettes. I’ve been thinking of GTR or even the NSX. Anyways traded the GTR and my CL 63 for the AMG GTS Edition 1.

That's a great write up agree with everything except the thought of you launching a GTR over and over like a 911... that's an expensive habit. Used to run guy with a lightly modded 2013 now and then with my bolt on LS3 C6 auto. It was close and from a dig I would always take him up to 125 or so because he wouldn't use the launch control.

I appreciate all the answers given! After consideration I purchased a Z06 today with the Z07 package in white. All I can say is WOW... I loved my Z51 package Stingray but this Z06 should be illegal it's so fast..!

Congrats!!! That z06 can be illegal in about 3 to 4 seconds depending on the speed limit. Enjoy!!!

from a race perspective - going straight and planting your foot isn't the only kind of racing. it's the only kind of racing for people with no talent or skill.

Nah, I'm just messing with you. Congrats on your new Z06/Z07. Some say the ride with the Z07 pkg. is too stiff but I haven't found that to be the case at all. I usually keep mine in the sport mode the majority of the time but I guess everyone's tolerances are different & the quality of the roads in your area plays a part too.
You might have already been aware of the the info below but in case you weren't I thought I'd pass it along. I came across another forum member's post with this info several months ago in the Z06 section. I'm glad I saw it since I had never seen any specifics regarding exactly what the Z07 pkg. consisted of besides the generic, stiffer suspension & CCBs.
C7 Corvette Z06 w/Z07 performance pkg. Differences between the Z06 & Z07: The following information comes directly from the Chief Suspension Engineer at Corvette.
The suspension on Z07 equipped Z06s is stiffer than non-Z07 equipped Z06s. The springs, shocks, Magnetic Selective Ride Control calibration and stabilizer bar bushings are different between the two.
- The front spring has a 62% higher rate on the Z07 than the standard Z06.
- The rear spring has a 22% higher rate on the Z07 than the standard Z06.
- The Magnetic Selective Ride Control shocks on the Z07 have a tighter gap which means a higher “passive” curve in addition to a more aggressive MSRC damping tuning.
- The different stabilizer bar bushings help the Z07 achieve an appropriate understeer level.

Thanks for that information! The only reason I went with the Z07 was because I bought a used one with 3,900 miles. I got a great deal so I pulled the trigger. This car is so much fun and I'm glad to be back in a manual.

I bought my '18 M7 used at the end of July with 747 miles on it & it also just happened to have the Z07 pkg., carbon fiber dash etc.... The original owner had it for 11 months & then I found it on AutoTrader at a BMW dealer in Atlanta 2 days after it had been traded in. I had it shipped out here. It has just over 1,800 miles on it now.
