Paint Peeling on a $82.000 2016 Z51 Vert
While detailing my Vert for a car show I noticed paint peeling from under the rear spoiler on the passenger side....Since I have gone beyond the 3 yrs in spite of only 13,000 miles I am OUT OF WARRANTY and I know what I can expect from the dealer or GM....I am sharing this so those with the full rear spoiler can see if they have the same problem...Either they did not tighten it correctly or nothing was placed between the spoiler and the car....Obviously, I am very upset over this. I believe the fix would be to remove the back end to remove the spoiler so the body can be repainted.....If the GM person see's this post...please IM me.....thanks

Had it happen in four locations where the bumpers meet the main body panels. Worse than pictured in one spot, which cracked and wrapped the corner and flaked off. Opted to have the bumpers repainted, and I'm very happy with the results. All paid for by the general. Not happy I needed to do it (and lost my Vette for the final month of driving in the midwest, but life goes on.
PS - I'd still approach the dealer due to your mileage as this is a known issue. If you have a good dealer hopefully they will go to bat for you.

Is this a dealer installed option or was it installed at the factory? If installed at the dealer, they ought to step up. If at the factory, a call to GM would be in order. Good luck.

Yes, a fairly common C7 issue that GM knows about.

There have been times when GM stepped up even when out of warranty. Good PR when they do. This is one case where they should.

Sorry to hear it... but, despite all, they're still Shivies.

You mentioned possibly nothing was placed between the spoiler and the car. I purchased this spoiler from GM parts and installed myself. There is nothing to place between the spoiler and the car in the kit or instructions. They give you the spoiler and a template to lay across the top of the bumper cover with locations to drill the nine holes in the bumper cover required to attach the spoiler.

Factory installed.....I sent a email to Mary Bara....lets see if she or someone responds
One other thing....I have been known to exceed the speed limit...from time to time....I mean REALLY exceed it....I wonder if the downward force could have had something to do with it....

If over 200 MPH....maybe,but doubtful.
Most every dealership sets aside some "Customer Goodwill" money to take care of stuff like that...but only usually if you bought from them.

I understand your disappointment. That said do you really think CEO Mary Bara will respond to your email? You may have an better chance of winning the lottery.

Have you taken it to the dealer to see what they say? Seeing there's a service bulletin, maybe they'll perform a goodwill repair. It's worth a try.

It's a glorified customer service email. Her actual email address isn't available on the internet and would be filtered by software and an assistant before she ever saw it.
