Default Storage Question

Was wondering if anyone with a C7 has experience with storing their car for a few months without the ability to use a battery maintainer? Specifically, has anyone disconnected the battery upon tucking the car away and simply re connecting when it is time to wake the car up? What happens with pre sets, DIC settings etc?

Thanks and Happy Holidays.

That's what I would do. Nothing lost except you'll need to re-index windows. Make sure you can get into the car and open the hood without power.

You'll have to unhook it for it to have any hope of starting when you get back after more than a month, though it varies with battery condition. And I'd still take a jumper pack with you when you go to start it if you can. I have a tiny LithiumIon one from Amazon that's amazingly small! I was dubious until I used it to jump my Range Rover, which was dead and which has a huge battery and a belt-driven supercharged V8. Spun it over as well as the factory battery every did!

Thanks all for the replies. Love the idea of the compact booster pack. Funny about the Range Rover! Another litmus test for the booster pack's performance could be my 1981 MB 300D!

If you have no access to electricity and or no battery tender, then do as the above posters say, disconnect it

Learn how to use the trunk key and then the door release.

I agree. There was a forum member recently that got locked out of his car with no power and his manual trunk key wasn't working.

It'd be likely they just struggled and failed with it, unless it was outright broken. Don't give up easily, it's in a weird location!

I'm an old pro at it by now. Which is hard on batteries, letting them run dead like that...
