Anyone purchase the range device on amazon
they are listed at 159.00 and wondered if they are same as getting directly from range. Is it a corvette application
thanks
Have not purchased there. Only concern I would have is if it is the current version or not. If not, getting Range to update. Ay not be a problem but if it is you are stuck. Unless of course the seller on Amazon is actually Range, check that.
To the other poster, the Range device plugs in to the OBDII port and prevents the car from going into the V4 mode.
It's a devise used to keep your engine from going into V4 mode and eliminates the A8 issues associated with that. Installs in about 30 seconds. I found it also makes A8 shift smoother.

Same here, I would be concerned if they have the latest version which is V8.6R1.
Also, I would check with Range to insure they offer free updates for devices that are purchased from Amazon as they do with units purchased direct from them.
Personally, I would't take a chance on the Amazon units just to save $30 over purchasing direct from range.

Purchase it direct and then you can be sure it has the latest updates , Range ships as fast as Amazon .
You will love the range , especially if you couple it with the fuse pull or mild to wild switch for your NPP ....sounds awesome with the mufflers open all the time and no AFM closing the flaps
I bought a Range from a forum member that was outdated. Contacted Range and they said they would update for free so I bought it sent for update and love it. I would think they would update for free no matter where you purchased.
I bought thru Amazon in November and paid $137.96 plus $8.28 PA sales tax. It was the latest software. Lot's of worry warts here. If it wasn't the latest, it's easily returned.

The unit I purchased from Amazon was from a third party vendor and was not the current model; the program was out of date. With Amazon’s great return policy, I was able to get a refund and then ordered direct.
From your experience seems like the worry is justified in some cases as it's hit or miss as to whether you get latest update model.
Question is, how long ago did Sconn experience this? If it was 6 months ago or more, I'd venture to say that the old inventory has been depleted by now. If it was a few weeks ago, I'd be more concerned.

and for some important info. Some of these businesses that sell the Range unit are not authorized dealers therefore Range will not honor the warranty, or give free updates I got this info straight from Range when I ask about one on Ebay. So, if you go with the one on Amazon try to ascertain if the seller is authorized.
I suggest as posters have, but directly for Range. That way there will be no questions.
