You will end up with a white residue that will dry out the plastic making it look awful.
That's what always happens to me, so l try to avoid touching the plastics when l'm waxing the car or the motorbike & l use good old furniture polish on the black plastics.

I use Aerospace 303 protectant on ALL my plastics. It has a UV protector in it. Inside the car as well as the exterior. Works very good on the dash. No glare and does not dry it out.

In the detailing tutorial videos they say treat the plastics with armour all, VRT, etc. before any polishing, waxing, sealing on adjacent surfaces. That way if you get any of those substances on the plastics, they will not adhere and cause the white stuff.
If you do get the white stuff on the plastics, the only way I have been able to get rid of it is - wait for it - peanut butter. This came from one of the many internet videos.

I gave up ArmourAll years ago. Did they change the formula so as not to dry out the material it's applied to?
with Ken. There is a big difference in black parts, i.e. rear diffuser, hood vent, etc., and black plastic parts, i.e. front fender spats on the GS, etc. If you're asking about the plastic parts then the answer is a big old "no". Wax will turn white, and is terribly hard to remove. You can however use the new polymer wax's like the Maguire's Ulitmate line. They will not haze up, and turn the plastic's white.
Turtle Wax's ICE product works great on the outside of the car. No need to worry about whether something is plastic or not. Wipe it on and wipe it off with no residue. Stay away from any product that leaves a white residue after it dries. Although the white residue will wipe off the paint it will get caught in the little pores of the plastic pieces or weatherstrip and is almost impossible to get out. ICE is a clear product that doesn't leave a white residue. I use it to do the complete car. Windows, paint, Xpel, plastic parts, weatherstrip, everything. That makes the job simpler.
The only thing I have found that is undesirable about the product is that like Astroshield it leaves a greasy look to the car until you wash and dry it with a cotton towel. Then it is beautiful.

My experience with ICE was that it didn't last very long (a couple of weeks at most).
I've used Meguiars NXT 2.0 ever since and love the stuff (except for Rejex on the nose).
