I don't use shoulder pads but my wife (being short(er)) currently uses a sheepskin one on the passenger side. Without one, the belt cuts into her neck.

Silly me... I thought I needed to buy 2 of these, not realizing they're sold in packs of 2 to start with! So I've got an extra set (brand new in unopened package). These are nice with a soft neoprene back (the part that contacts you) and very nice embroidery!
